Guest guest
Well Ms. Sandy, I think I am doing ok. I have so many things to do since I retired that I stay sooooooooo tired all the time. But every morning I help Charlie get dressed around 7:45 am and then I have coffee and my toast, and he has 1/2 cup (he drinks iced tea all day) and then my day starts and ends around 1:00 am and if his legs are jumping or etc, he is getting up when I am ready to go to bed so there we gooooooooooooo but I must say this, I still dance with my group of women that my daughter teaches in another town 70 miles from here in Apalachicola, Fla. I never get to rehearsal but a couple of times before a show but I get a video to watch and learn by thank goodness and since I used to teach my daughter longgggggggg time ago she thinks I am suppose to learn it over time but I just wing it, I try to get behind someone real big and hide the whole show. We do Jazz, tap, clogging, ballroom (this year we did a tango routine) but the reason I am telling you this is I do get to do something every now and then that I love, but mostly try to take care of Charlie's needs as he has always been so active and now his life has changed. I just hope and pray that a miracle will happen and they will find a cure for PLS. He has 2 wheelchairs so sometimes I just get in the other one and sit with him watching tv, I don't know why I do that, it's just different. We went to Orlando, Fl recently like last week for a National dance competition July 11th and we had a horrible time in what they called a handicapped room, Charlie couldn't even get his wheelchair in the bathroom door so after arguing with them, they moved us to another room, a " drive in shower " ....ha ha and he was able to get thru the door. I wish I was smart enough to lobby for the handicapped cause there a re so many things that I hate for the handicapped that I would just talk myself to death to all our Senators and Representatives telling them all the things " we all need " . Love and kisses to you too. June Bug
Guest guest
I wish I could see you and the girl do your dance's. It sounds like you all have a blast. I have never been coordinated enough to dance. Before my hubbys stroke he loved to dance, so we would go out with friends and he would get out on the floor and shake his booty with our friends. I am so sorry you and Charlie had such a hard time with the rooms you had. I think people that dont have a disability need to act like they have one once in awhile, like put them in a wheel chair and let them know how difficult things can be. After my hubby had his stroke, which effects his left side. I had my boys tie there left arm up so they couldnt move it, and had them put a weight around there left ankle. They said they wanted to know how it felt so they could relate to Bills disability. They only lasted 1 hour and said o.k thats enough. They understood better then. Well I need to get out in the yard before it gets to hot. Have a great day, Sandy Re: June bug Well Ms. Sandy, I think I am doing ok. Guest guest
Ms. Sandy, bless your heart. I know - I have tried to do everything Charlie does in his wheelchair just to see what or how hard it is and it is really difficult. I will send you a video tape of us 5 dancing if you would like to give me your address. I am the worst one for me to have taught dancing, but I do not live where they live and I only get to learn the routine at the last minute as my daughter doesn't have time to teach me like the rest that live in Apalachicola, but it is fun and good exercise, but I am terrible. Just send me your address and I will send it to you. God Bless and take care. June bug
