Hi Janie,

When your foot is swollen do you get the dark swollen area on the arch like I do?

It is almost directly under the ankle and goes down under the foot to the heel but only about midway. It is awfully bruised red looking but is a hard swollen area. Brawny edema is the term I think. It is there all the time for me but does get bigger and darker when I use the foot more.

That is separate from the swelling on the other parts of the foot. The upper part of the foot is swollen up from the outer three toes to the ankle nand then under the toes is also swollen, the pad of the foot causing the toes to go every which way and I know other people have said they have this too. Recently the big toe has started throbbing at random and is usually kind of grayer than the other toes.

The swelling is going up to the knee nowadays and still no diagnoses. Except the new pain doc saying maybe it is not RSD but a couple of things. Sure would like it to be something you can get rid of easily.

Felice,

The coloring you have sounds like my knee. It is always red, but it changes. When my knee is really hot it is like a lobster red, like a bad sunburn. But when the temp is not as hot it is a darker red/purplish kind of color.

That would be nice if it was something that would have an easy fix. When do you go to the doctor again? I hope you are doin ok, talk to you later.

Lori,

My knee does that at times.....right above it actually. It turns red, but has white patchy spots that looks like I had a sunburn and poked it with my finger so that it would turn white.

But, that is the only spot that does that.

On my right arm though, even before the RSD was dx'd there......I'm guessing it started about a month after I did get injured....has purple/blue streaks like a vein or artery is right below the skin. That is how dark it gets. Sometimes its just a line, other times, its a large round area.
