Guest guest
Hi Martha, I'm in BC and started with pellatized Minocin in Oct of this year. I asked my doc to prescribe " as written " and asked the pharmacist to order it (Lederle of Wyeth). The rx arrived 2 days later. If I can do it in my wee little village, it should be possible for you. Robyn rheumatic re: canadian pharmacy I have contacted three pharmacys in Canada to try and get minocin. All had minocin, but when I asked the pharmacist to actually look at the pill and see if it was pellatized or a powder inside...all three were powdered. Obviously generic although I specifically asked for the brand minocin. None had the pellatized avaliable. Martha
Guest guest
Name brand Lederle used to be a powdered variety in Canada so that is old stock. Wait a bit and they will use that up and have name brand pelleted which is what Canada has switched to recently. Its kind of confusing sometimes because Canada is different and for years the branded was a powder. rheumatic re: canadian pharmacy I have contacted three pharmacys in Canada to try and get minocin. Guest guest
Robyn, I'm sorry for sending this to you directly rather than sending to the group by mistake. ---------------------------------------------------- Hi Robyn, Did you find any difference after taking pellatized Minocin? We've heard lots of results for the difference between pellatized Minocin and generic minocycline manufactured by other than Lederle (Waythe). I'm taking powdered Minomycin of Lederle brand here in Japan and craving for real Minocin! Minomycin is doing fine job for me, though. Guest guest
Hi Norio, Please see the post to “Bob and Carol” for info re Minocin. I started AP 7 weeks ago, on the pelleted version, so I have nothing to compare it to. I only know that I am reacting strongly(herx) to ½ dose (50 mgms M-W-F), Robyn Re: rheumatic re: canadian pharmacy Robyn, I'm sorry for sending this to you directly rather than sending to the group by mistake. ---------------------------------------------------- Hi Robyn, Did you find any difference after taking pellatized Minocin? Guest guest
Dear Group, We have received a number of inputs to the effect that there still exists a Canadian version of powdered minocycline that is sold under the Lederle (now Wyeth-Ayerst) label, and which works exceedingly well for RA. I surmise that even though the brand labels are the same, the powdered Canadian version is made in a different factory than its pelleted US counterpart, which is brand-name Lederle (now Wyeth-Ayerst) Minocin. I surmise that Wyeth-Ayerst purchased a Canadian company some while back and is now in process of discontinuing that company's minocycline to avoid any competition with the more expensive brand-name Minocin. In September 2001, Wyeth discontinued the sale of its US generic minocycline, which was identical to Minocin. Regrettably, it's all about profit margins, not value to patients. Sincerely, Harald At 10:58 PM 12/16/02 -0800, Lynne wrote: >Hi Martha; > I live in Ontario and all I can get is Lederle (now Wyeth-Ayerst) and > it is peleted.Am not doing nearly as well with it. Guest guest
Hi Pris, I too new to AP to know the difference between a flare and a herheimer reaction. When I first started taking the Minocin, there was an obvious increase in pain (generalized) and it had a pattern of being worse that night and the next day. Over the past week I now have increased pain all the time. I wish I knew also, Robyn Re: rheumatic re: canadian pharmacy In a message dated 12/16/02 9:56:27 PM, mike_ferrario@... writes: << I started AP 7 weeks ago, on the pelleted version, so I have nothing to compare it to. Guest guest
Hi Robyn, I'm sure you're experiencing a herx, which often occurs when you start the AP or even adjust your dosage. Much as it feels rotten, it's actually a good sign that the treatment is working and kicking up some bugs. The toxins released by the bugs dying off is what is thought to cause the symptoms of a herx. The best way to deal with it is to watch your diet, drink tons of water to flush out the toxins and get as much rest as possible. Give yourself some TLC, be patient and this, too, shall pass. If the herx becomes more than you can bear, you can always reduce your mino dosage, then slowly increase it over time to give your system more of a chance to adjust. What you're experiencing is the " two steps back " we often refer to but you'll soon be seeing that three steps forward. Hang in there, you'll be glad you did. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs a Robyn & Mike Ferrario wrote: > > Hi Pris, > > I too new to AP to know the difference between a flare and a herheimer > reaction. Guest guest
I got mine from Candianmedsusa.com and they are pelleted. The capsules are colored differently then the minocin in the states. Take care, Ute
Guest guest
Dear a, Thank you so much for writing, the support and information is much appreciated. I've been having a rough time for so long (many years) and was doing a bit better for a couple of weeks, actually sleeping for several hours a nite for the first time in a long time. Then I started the Minocin. I feel like I'm perched on a fence, one tiny thing awry and off I fall. And because of the long period of time feeling like this, I haven't the same emotional strength and resistance I used to. I now think that because I added one 50 mg dose last week for a total of 4x/week, it was enough to upset the applecart. I tried the H2O2 again last night and while I felt nominally improved at the time, it was short-lived and wakened to pain 2 hours later. I wonder if you'd mind sharing a " good " Calgary AP doc's name. I think you did this for me a couple of months ago and unfortunately, I've lost the name. Waiting for the 3 steps forward, thanks again, Robyn Re: rheumatic re: canadian pharmacy Hi Robyn, I'm sure you're experiencing a herx, which often occurs when you start the AP or even adjust your dosage.
