Guest guest
Stacey, There are many other Meds besides Neurontin and Topamax that does the same job they do. One is Gabitril. I know the name of another....but can't think of it right now. My Husband's Aunt takes it cause she has epileptic seizures even with taking it. What you really need to do is calm down and relax to begin with......and second, trust your doctor. If you don't trust him....then you need to find another doctor that you DO trust. As for weaning off the Neurontin....yes, its very tricky and dangerous to do.....but, if you can get down to a certain dose while weaning off, the doctor should start you on the other one so that you will be going up on the new one at the same time you are going down on the old one. And also.....when weaning off, you go down 1 dose each week. If you take 300mg in the am, 600mg afternoons and 900 at night......you might start going down at night first so that it's: 300, 600, 600. then, so on. If you start feeling funny, after going down 2-3 doses.....then that means you need to go back up to the last lower dose you was on the previous week for another week until your body is used to that lower dose first....and then try it again. If your doctor knows what he is doing, you'll be fine. Tonia -------Original Message------- BUT I DELETED IT, BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO IF I HAD TO STOP TAKING IT. I WILL LOOK FOR IT ON THE DIGEST.AS SOON AS THE NEURONTIN STARTS TO WEAR OFF. ZAP! I GET TERRIBLE PAIN FROM MY FINGERTIPS TO MY TOES AND ACROSS TO MY GOOD ARM AND SOMETIMES IN MY HEAD. OUCH DOUBLE OUCH! I FEEL LIKE I AM IN AN ELECTRIC CHAIR VERY WEIRD . TOPOMAX DOES SOUND BETTER, BUT WHAT IF IT DOESNT WORK I AM SO CONFUSED AND WORRIED NOW! MAYBE I SHOULD CALL MY NEURO TOMORROW ABOUT THIS. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD CALL OR WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT VISIT? ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
