How long after surgery till your bowel movements returned to normal?

Did you/do you have a lot of undigested matter, etc., to deal with?

Sorry it's not a pleasant topic, but it's the question on my mind

today. I've been continuing my quest for info on RNY vs. lap band.

Everyone I've talked to has been extremely partial to the surgery he or

she had, which is good, I guess! :) RNYers swear by the RNY and lap

banders swear by the lap band. I talked to a nurse at the hospital

where I work. She loves her life 2 years after her RNY surgery and

would not change her decision for anything. I didn't feel comfy asking

her the gross question, though. :) Thanks, everyone.

,

It took a good month and half before I was " normal " again in the bathroom

department. The first few weeks you are pretty much on liquid, therefore

your bathroom experiences are about the same, liquid. Once you get on solid

foods its pretty commom to have some constipation problems. Once I started

using a little flaxseed daily my issues cleared up. Protein has a habit of

binding you up, so its a matter of finding a happy medium with something to

gives you enough fiber to keep everything moving. Water is also terribly

important. I think that is another reason alot of fresh post ops have

constipation problems. It is hard to get enough water in early on.

Good luck!

Got a question, what exactly is the flaxseed and where can I get it. I am

having major problem right now with constipation. I am taking iron pills

plus trying to get pregnant and doc put me on prenatal and I had a lot of

cheese last week. So with all of that combined its killing me right now.

Nina,

You are not alone. I am having the same problem. I took one dose of milk of

magnesia yesterday and still nothing. It can be very painful, I sympathize with

you. Hopefully you will get some relief soon.

flaxseed is some kind of nut i think, they sell it all ground up in bags.

Amity is part of the group and she told me about it. You can sprikle it one

cottage cheese or yogart or a banana split......ok no banana split but there

are lots of ways to eat it. And it should get everything moving again. Look

for it in the health food section in your local store.
