Guest guest
Hello I am Virginia I am living in The Netherlands and have the OK to have the bypass. Believe me it was just as much a pain in the behind here with the insurance as I see it is in the States. 7 months of tug of war is what it felt like to me. Any way I have tried looking up any information as what would be good for me to be doing to get ready for the surgery Nov 3 and find more post op information then pre op. Any one got any Ideas like special diets and such? I am 175 kl with a bmi of 57. Ready to get on with this and get healthy. Thank you in advance Virginia
Guest guest
Hi Virginia, I'm and I am 59 years old. I personally did not have to do anything to get ready for surgery. Some doctors require you to lose weight before hand but mine did not. Some require a liquid diet a few day prior but again mine did not. I am in a wheelchair, I had lots of medical problems and I weighed almost 400 lb. The only thing that he asked was that I have my main meal in the middle of the afternoon the day before, and then have liquid up until midnight the night before. I did wonderful and was only in hospital 2 days. It has been 6 1/2 months and I have lost 91 lb.. Hope this helps. If your doctors doesn't stipulate any special diet then I would not worry about it. I was able to have Lap even as big as I was. It is the best thing that I could have done for myself. I would do it over in a heartbeat. Good Luck! A. B. LAP RNY 3/22/03 Dr. Steve Weinstein, MD.
