Hi Debkroll and Wolfie

How are you gals doing? Wolfie you and I had surgery around the same time I

think mine was 8/25/03 and to date I am down to 247 pounds but my friends

tell me they can really see my weight loss when I am wearing my clothes. I

am down 2 bra sizes and about 3 dress sizes. I think I lose more inches

than pounds LOL. I hardly enjoy eating anymore and just do it to live now.

I did eat a small chocolate donut yesterday and was able to keep it down

LOL. I seem to have no problems digesting sugar at all but I usually eat

Splenda instead. I have even eaten a small slice of red velvet cake with

cream cheese frosting and had no dumping issues. To date I have never

dumped but I have thrown up things like chicken and turkey and mozzarella

sticks. I try to chew my food about 50 times before I swallow but it is

hard sometimes especially when you are with friends. I went to a friends

party last Friday and ate some chicken and had to go to the bathroom and do

the bulimic thing to toss my cookies up because that chicken was hurting me

badly. So here I am a fat bulimic lol am I on the supermodel diet or what

LOL. If I had to do it all over again I would just do it the normal way and

force myself to work out and eat better but since that is all water under

the bridge I have to deal with life as it comes. I really miss the comfort

of food it has been a really good friend for so long but I am dealing with

it. I am wearing clothes I have not fit in years and it is all nice but I

would rather eat a nice big Philly cheese steak instead LOL to me that would

be just as nice or better. I really miss eating sandwiches and bread I just

can't eat them anymore. Pouch Pain hurts like heck so I will do anything to

avoid it.

Lori Anne,

Are you saying that you would not do it again? it sounds to me like you are

saying that you regret having the surgery? Just curious

I thought the same thing. I loved food as well as anyone. It was my " DRUG " of

choice. I found every reason in the world to eat. But there is nothing out

there now that could replace this wonderful way I feel as far as my health is

and my whole outlook about myself and the improvement of my life.

Hey there girl yup I said it I would have rather lost my weight by the normal

protocols or not at all. I used to enjoy going out for dinner with friends

and going on vacations and enjoying those little extra treats. Now I can

hardly even enjoy a meal much less anything that I loved before surgery well

except

for juices. I can drink orange juice and any kind of juice all day. I can

even eat products with a high sugar content with no problem. I am sick of this

bulimic type program of my body expelling food that upsets it. I drink a

protein shake sometimes when I can remember and I do take my vitamins. Don't

get

me wrong I have lost a lot of weight and everyone tells me I look great and I

do love the way I am going down in size but the enjoyment of food is gone

forever. I never had any health problems before surgery so the benefit of it is

purely esthetic for me. I just miss eating a meal and not having to think the

hell out of it before hand is all. As for the surgery even when I reach my

goal weight and I know I will I will never advocate to anyone to get it done.

The quality of my life has decreased just a bit with this surgery and I miss

that bit that ease of living and I know it is gone forever. I will forever

more have to be so careful of what I eat and I guess I deserve it after all I

put

myself in the weight class to have a need for surgery so now I suffer the

consequences. Do it again no way .

I'm sorry you feel that way. I too, tried many diets and lost the weight only

to gain it back again. This surgery was my only option to get the weight off

and KEEP it off. So far I have lost 65 pounds and I would gladly do it all

over again. I am off my B/P medication and I just went to the DR to day and he

says I am doing fine!

I still go out to dinner with friends too. I am just very picky about what I

choose. Last month, we went to a dinner theater. I ate a few bites of the

salad and a small portion of the entree. The rest went back to the kitchen. ( I

did throw some of my steak on hubby's plate, it was STEAK after all) :) I have

no regrets. This was the best thing I have ever done. I have a protien shake

every morning along with a few sips of coffee and a bottle of water, protien

for lunch, I try to have a shake in the afternoon, but where I work is SO busy I

am on my feet for 8 hours. I have dinner with my family. I eat a small portion

of the meat I put on the table for everyone else. I am really not missing

anything but the things that are bad for me, the sweets and hi carb foods. I

really dont' crave these things anymore.

You really shouldn't feel you have to " suffer the consequences " . Are you going

to support meetings? The hospital I had my surgery has them every month.

I am so glad to hear you say this . I am coming up on five weeks and my

energy is still well below normal, although I think it is starting to

improve slightly. I am hoping in the next couple of weeks it is going to

change.

Hi Lori Anne,

You're about six weeks out, right? You're at the point you're getting

all

your energy back and want to do things but your diet is still somewhat

restricted.
