Guest guest
Yup! That's how we did it...we " bumped " into each other in a newsgroup (the older versions of the e-groups) waaay back in 1994. I had not figured out how to post the messages since I had only been online for about a week--this was back in the baby days of the internet. One day, I was testing my newsreader and wanted to reply directly to someone's email..so I picked a name out of the members and his was the longest name on the board so it stood out. I hit " reply " and introduced myself...we became friends (we both had relationships at the time)and about 6 months later we met in person and had our first REAL date in San Francisco (he grew up near Boston and was at UCONN law at the time)...After graduation, he moved from the East Coast and now loves California(although he still wears his Red Sox cap every chance he gets) We married 6 years after we met and still celebrate the day that we " bumped " into each other in cyberspace. while we were dating, I didn't like telling people how we met becuase most people thought meeting online was weird...but now I love telling the story! -riza > > Re: this week's topic > > Riza! i just had to tell you that i met my SO online also.. > >

Guest guest
Unfortunately...with the new house and everything...we might not have any money left!!! Lol! We're planning a Boston trip in November so I think our limit this year will be one vacation. Sorry!!! I would love to meet everyone though..maybe next year? I'm gonna borrow my bro's scanner this weekend and maybe I can share my scrapbooks with you that way. But who knows...if we're able to save enough money maybe we can go...I would LOVE to go to Chicago---I've never been before. -riza > Awww.. perfect! How very neat! Guest guest
awwww.that's so cool! I don't know if I would've been brave enough to do that after the first chat! It's a good thing you trusted your instincts. You lucky girl...you were meant to be together! -riza > i did the same thing sort of, but a little different... > > my hubby and i met in a chat room....(scary huh?lol) and i saved our chat and the following year after we were married, i sent it to him in bootcamp for HIM to read... > > we chatted for several hours the first night and then (gasp!) i invited him to my apt. Guest guest
Your story sounds more like mine Kim. Except mine is more recent.. and more dramatic. We met in January in a chat room in Yahoo! we chatted with all of our friends for 2 months and then we started talking on the phone. at the end of February he said he wanted to leave where he was and he wanted to come meet me! We talked about it happening in like a month or 2... next thing i knew, he had a ticket for middle of March! boy was i shocked. But guess what ... when he got here, he had all his stuff in 2 bags and had planned on making the trip to columbus after meeting me and my son. He never left! Opps! he moved in and today we have a beautiful baby boy.. things arent perfect, but when are they? we love each other and are trying to make a family and have the hopes of some day soon getting married! (well atleast i want the soon part LOL) Everyone told us that there was no way a Online relationship would work long term "in the real world" ... honestly i think i had a better chance getting to know him online than i would have if we had met in a bar setting... so go figure.. the new age of dating!
