I could use some cheering up too! I have several herniated disks in my

neck as well as a bone spur there. One pain specialist recommended

cortisone shots in my upper neck under X-Ray as an outpatient. If this

doesn't work, I've been told that surgery is something I should

consider. I don't want either of those options and PT hasn't done the

trick. I['ve been taking vicodin and neurotonin and still have

PAIN--into my shoulder blade, my shoulder, down my arm and sometimes as

far as my wrist. Typing is not easy so I'm not on the puter much. Glad

I read the two e-mails on this topic. I am seeing another pain

specialist in about 2 weeks so any info on IV colchicine or other help

would be appreciated. I could not take colichicine orally when I was

given it about 8 years ago for autoimmune problems. Is IV worse to take

or b etter? I had gotten horrible diarrhea from it back then.

Thanks for any info!

Hi Carol, Received your e-mail as well as some others. The article

is 8 pages. I will be sending it in 8 different e-mails, as I don't

want to clog any computers. I, also tried the oral pills as

well...very bad diarrhea....this does not happen with the

IV'S...absolutely no side effects. What I found with the pills, was

if I broke the tiny pill into quarters and took one quarter then

waited a half hhour or so and did that with the rest, it helped to

lessen the diarrhea. However, I still prefer the IV'S...They take

about 3-4 minutes....Hope this helps. I will be sending the copies

this afternoon.

Love, Barb

In Auusut 2001, I had to have a cervical fusion from the occiput to C4. The

pain was terrible and was not controlled well at all in the hospital. They

sent me home on morphine which only dulled the pain temporarily. After 6

weeks, the surgeon recommended I try acupuncture because he didn't know what

to suggest. I was fortunate to find, through a physiotherapist I know, an

acupuncturist who was trained in Chinese acupuncture. Before leaving home

for his office, I took my regular dose of morphine. By the time I arrived,

the sharp pain was back. He inserted one needle into my ear and within one

minute the pain was gone, not just dulled, but gone. I continued to see

this acupuncturist and I can honestly say I don't know what I would have

done without him.

For those in severe pain, I strongly recommend acupuncture, the Chinese

version. It may help you and certainly cannot harm you.
