Guest guest
The injectable form of Methotrexate is much easier on your liver. I took the oral form (pills) initially. After 30 days my liver enzymes were high and I experienced frequent dizziness. I was symptom free after changing to injections. -Steve rheumatic Methatrexate Question I have been taking methatrexate by injection and it is EXPENSIVE! Has anyone tried the pills? Is there a difference? Thanks a lot for any info you can provide. To unsubscribe, email: rheumatic-unsubscribeegroups

Shouldn't be. I always got 3 month supply and it was under $20. Check around. I went down to Moffet Cancer Center and got it for awhile. Guest guest
I've been taking metho for 7+ years now orally with no problems whatsoever. Liver enzymes have stayed the same. The only thing I've had to monitor is my wbc, which at times would drop into the low 3000's, but is now back up around 5500, so go figure. I take 20mg/week, which equates to 8 tabs once a week. Pretty cheap - about $30/month, but with insurance my cost is only about $10. If you don't have insurance, you might ask your doctor about the liquid form that you can actually swallow, which he told me was much cheaper. I know one of the former group members here takes it that way with no problems. Guest guest
Years ago when I took methotrexate, I would feel sick for 3 out of every 7 days for 7 years. I eventually found that ginger tea would help with the nausea. Make sure you are taking folic acid 24 hours after your dose of metho because it depletes folic acid. My second doctor told me this and prescribed 1 mg of Leucovorin (I think). I have since learned that acupuncture helps with the nausea from chemotherapy drugs. rheumatic Methatrexate Question > > I have been taking methatrexate by injection and it is EXPENSIVE! > Has anyone tried the pills?
