Guest guest
HI Nicky and glad you have been checking us out! Your situation is similar to someone who just posted yesterday or so--high lab numbers but no hyper symptoms. That is EXACTLY why everyone has to use labs as " interesting " but NOT as an infallible Bible of Thyroid diagnosis. Before the TSH came out in 1975, and when most folks were still on Armour, you were dosed by SYMPTOMS and NOT labs. And it worked. Yes, antibodies can skew results, so it will be interesting for you to know about them. But also, you could have thyroid hormone resistance, and the " solution " is simply to take high amounts of Armour, or even add T3 to your Armour. I doubt your situation is low adrenals, and many folks tend to jump on that wagon. Don't do that.....yet. Have you had your Ferritin tested? Many hypo folks have low Ferritin (storage iron), and it can cause the exact symptoms you describe--- brain fog, achiness, hair loss. Some of us even have to take iron daily to PREVENT the Ferritin from lowering. So do the antibodies, and do the Ferritin and don't worry about those labs. Guest guest
I think the cause is that you have a little adrenal fatigue causing thyroid to build up in the blood. You cannot overdose on anything less than what your healthy thyroid would make, which is about 4-1/2 to 5 grains. This is because the pituitary will slow production of TSH and drop production of the thyroid to keep you at or under what is healthy for you. Any time you get high numbers at doses less than about 4 grains, it is usually due to something going on that is preventing your body from using the thyroid and getting it into tissues. This can be low adrenal output, anemia, glucose issues and inadequate nutrition problems. I'd be willing to bet that you had your last tests in the morning when cortisol demands are double the rest of the day. This would be a common time for cortisol levels to be a bit low in adrenal fatigue. Then thyroid would be building up in your blood, but by afternoon, cortisol normalizes and gets where it's going. You can go quite high on thyroid before overdosing, at least to the point where you get to what your healthy thyroid would make. So, 3 grains is not there yet. I would not worry at all about these numbers except that maybe you need to reduce stress or take a little adrenal support for a little while. Also, the best dose for thyroid is the one that makes you feel good. That is the top priority. Tish

Oops. Let's first get you to test your Ferritin, Nicky, and if you want more info, do a 24 hour saliva adrenal test (see ZRT in the LINKS section) before adding adrenal support. Too many folks here jump on the adrenal support bandwagon and end up not needing it. Janie )
Guest guest
Hi Janie, Thanks for replying, I get my antibodies results back at the end of next week. That was how I was originally diagnosed after three years of borderlinr results!!! I had my Ferritin tested in June 04 and it was 171 tange (10-170) so I don't think that will be the problem, however, I do realise that it may have dropped. What worries me is that I am aware that Hyper symptoms can 'mirror' Hypo symptoms. As I've gone from feeling really great to feeling not so good again, I'm wondering if they're right. I'm also wondering if, now I've lost 2 1/2 stone on the anti-candida diet if I now need a lower dose of Armour? I don't know, just when u think you've got it sussed!!....... > > HI Nicky and glad you have been checking us out! Guest guest
Hi Janie, I do have a lot of stress going on in my life at the moment. Lots of realationship problems, financial etc!! My Doc has prescribed me something homeopathic to try & help me through that, whether that will help or not I am unsure. The other problem is that I am feeling a little depressed. That could be what is making me feel more tired, litltle brain fog etc. What worries me is that I've already paid £110 for this lot of blood tests from my Private Doc. I could go to my GP but I know these results are going to really freak her out & as I've onl;y just got her to Prescribe Armour on the NHS I don't want her to start going into one!!! I will have a look in the links section to see about bloods there but I don't want to rush straight into anything just yet. OH YES, I'VE JUST THOUGHT WHAT ELSE MAY HAVE SKEWED THE RESULTS. i TOOK 2 GRAINS OF MY ARMOUR AT ABOUT 8AM THAT MORNING PRIOR TO HAVING THE BLOODS TAKENAT ABOUT 12PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOULD THAT HAVE CAUSED THEM TO BE SO HIGH??? > > >I would not worry at all about these numbers except that maybe you > need to reduce stress or take a little adrenal support for a little > while. > > Oops. Yes, it can cause the high results. T3 will rise about 2 hours after you take the Armour. Your Ferritin is the envy of many here. LOL. As far as labs, what I have listed in the LINKS section, they do not require a prescription, by the way. And if you do need adrenal support, there is a section in the FILES section about it all. Guest guest
Sincle you're feeling better, but aren't quite " there " , yet, I think you've got one of two things going on, or maybe both, either/or or both thyroid hormone cellular resistance (where it takes a huge amt of hormone to penetrate the thyroid receptors at the cellular level) or, as you said, antibodies are doing funny things, doing their dirty work at your cellular sites, keeping the T3 from being absorbed. You're right, you probably do need a Reverse T3 test, smart girl! There's no way you're hyper, regardless of the test results. Labs back Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > > Hi All, > I've been lurking for a long time, have been reading lots and > gaining lots of information!!! Guest guest
Right, I havn't heard from the Doc yet, so when he does I'm gonna ask him if they can use the same blood to do a Rev T3 (As they are still awaiting the results of the antibodies. I'm aasuming they may still have some left!!!!!!!!!! Also, as I'm in the UK I shall get a test kit off NPTech and get it retested. When I havn't taken my Armour!!!! What a dozy tart I am, I know better than to take it before a blood test, It's just where I have it as a morning ritual, It's kinda hard to not doit!!! What I've annoyed myself with even more is the fact that it cost £110. to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! > In a message dated 11/20/2004 5:52:21 AM Eastern Standard Time, > nickysparks@b... writes: > > > > > OH YES, I'VE JUST THOUGHT WHAT ELSE MAY HAVE SKEWED THE RESULTS. i > > TOOK 2 GRAINS OF MY ARMOUR AT ABOUT 8AM THAT MORNING PRIOR TO HAVING > > THE BLOODS TAKENAT ABOUT 12PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > WOULD THAT HAVE CAUSED THEM TO BE SO HIGH??? > > > > Definitely yes. > cindi > > >
