Guest guest
Thanks. I am probably going to be half self dosing so that I can have a prescription on hand, husband worries about that. Again sorry if I sound testy I just have lost a lot of energy lately and I think my cats have a parasitic worm that maybe tapeworms and I just have a lot on my plate. Its just a lot about my doc that I haven't mentioned. My doc doesn't tell me anything. She didn't even tell me I had hashimotos, I had to ask a nurse on my way out what the test result meant. She rushes me through the appointment and half answers any questions I can get her to sit still long enough to ask. My symtoms just seem to be coming back and I have been getting testier lately and I hate it. My husband has wondered if I should get RAI and use the meds instead of trying to regulate between meds and thyroid. Anyone heard of that? > > If your doc gave you an " equivalent " amount of Armour to the > Synthroid (as stated below), you are underdosed. The equivalency > charts are terrible. Guest guest
Oh gosh I think my new dr. put me on an equivalent dose of Armour as I was on with the Synthroid. Don't know yet for sure tho since I don't have the Rx yet from the drug store. We'll see when I can get it. Another thing that's bothering me is my friend said her cardiologist is treating people for heart problems she says they acquired from self-medicating on too much thyroid. I'm taking that as heresay tho because my friend isn't a doctor so doesn't have all the facts & it may be that the patients were taking too much Synthroid or other synthetic thyroid T4 only & not natural thyroid at all over & above what the dr. prescribed. Her argument was that the high doses of thyroid overactivate the cortisol in the system or something like that. Who knows? I'm just learning here & merely seeking comments. Anyway I would hate to go against a otherwise good doctors wishes by taking over the amount of what they prescribed. I need a good doctor for other things, not just thyroid dysfunction. Caroline Tygreye--there's hope. If your doc gave you an " equivalent " amount of Armour to the Synthroid (as stated below), you are underdosed. The equivalency charts are terrible. For example, the equivalency charts said I should be on 1 1/4 grains, yet I found my optimal dose at 3 1/4 grains!!

Anyone > heard of that? Oops. Your husband has given you bad advice. RAI is radiation, and it's a way to get rid of your thyroid. And most folks who have had it done regret, regret it. You need more Armour, and you need to go to the store and get some iron. I successfully take ferrous sulfate, 325 mg. and 2-3 times a day when I am low. And....you need to fire your doc. Guest guest
That's what I was thinking with the RAI but wanted to see if anyone had advice for it. He was just wondering about it cause a friend of ours had a relative that did it with hypo. Don't know the results from that. I started 2 grains today (after being on 1.5 for a week, too early?) and have felt loads better. Didn't know energy felt this good I have actually gotten alot of my house clean. The brain fog is still there but it seems to have gotten better. I am going to stay at 2 for at least 2-3 weeks and see how the brain fog does. And I don't know why but everytime I am at the store I keep forgetting to get my iron pills. HAVE to do that tomorrow. I was thinking about firing her but I think I might just use her to my own means for prescription purposes until I can find a better doc. I have left doc's before and would run out of meds before finding a new one and do not want that to happen again. Thanks for all the help and I love this group, I have learned a lot and appreciate all the advice I have been getting.
