Guest guest
I can't tolerate heat or cold. Instead of wearing a sweater I wear a cardigan or jacket as I have to take it off and then back on a hundred times a day. Lynda (in the UK) Re: Re: hypo & heat intolerance?/adrenals I love the cold/cooler weather...can't stand it when it's warm........ugh....even at 70 degrees I am uncomfortable. I am hoping that will change as I adjust my meds. Kerry

Guest guest
I have been treating my adrenals for a year now. First 9 months with hydrocortisone 5mg x 4 times a day, didn't see much improvement so switched to deltacortril 5mg once a day. Still have low temp even though I feel hot most of the time, or hot/cold all day. I think I struggled along on empty for so long that it is going to take a long time to heal Lynda (in the UK) Re: hypo & heat intolerance?/adrenals Yeah, that's adrenal fatigue. Low body temperature all the time is simple hypo, but temperature swings (jacket on, jacket off) mean your adrenals aren't doing their job. Doesn't mean you're aren't hypo, of course, just that you also have an adrenal problem.
Guest guest
From my experience, it does take a long time for the adrenals to heal. I'm just about there after a year of aggressive rest therapy, but my doctor told me about a woman who had to rest for two years. Are you resting, Lynda? Guest guest
Agressive rest therapy? " Aggressive " doesn't sound very restful to me. What kind of " rest " are we talking about? Staying in bed or on the couch all the time, no housework, yardwork, no driving, no social life, no exercise at all, no heavy lifting/carrying, no extensive traveling, no intensive studying/reading, no work at all? Who'll do all the work then? Who keeps up with shopping, cooking, household, yard, car upkeep/repairs then? And what about atrophied muscles & general bodily weakness from lack of exercise? Who helped (took care of) that woman that rested for two years doing all the things she wasn't supposed to do or couldn't do? Caroline ...(who lives alone & can't rest all the time because there's " basic survival " *work* that needs doing every single day.) Guest guest
Depends on what you mean by rest. I gave up work 18 months ago and since then I have been taking it easy, doing the bare minimum of housework. Dh has always done the cooking. I don't have any stress in my life now so I should be much better than I am. Can't remember exactly but I think it has been about 18 months since I started armour and about a year since I started adrenal support (which I knew nothing of until I joined this group) Don't get me wrong, some things have improved but I still very jumpy which is an adrenal symptom. I am either too hot or too cold, sometimes the hot spells last for a few days or a few weeks. I get upset easily, doesn't take much to make me cry. I think I put myself under so much stress for such a long time that it is going to take a long time to undo. I emphasize that I put MYSELF under stress because I am that type of personality that can't delegate. At the age of 26, with 2 young children in tow, we emigrated to South Africa. I did all the organization. We stayed in the first place there for 3 months and then we moved to the coast. I did all the organization. During the next 3 years we moved twice... Then we moved back to the UK, stayed for 6 months, moved back to SA. Had a house built (which has to be THE most stressful thing I have ever experienced. Won't bore you with how many times we moved except to say that eventually we left South Africa to go to New Zealand and a year later back to the UK again. And it was after that last move that all my problems began, is there any wonder.... Guest guest
Wow! That was a lot of moving around the world for you & your family. I had to move/relocate 7 times in two years & supervise the building of this 3 bedroom, 2 bath new house, unpack everything myself & put it all together, landscape & all that too. While having been pronounced physically, mentally, emotionally exhausted 4 years ago after being super stressed out caregiving my now deceased, mentally/physically disabled husband, two story house & yards for 5 years before that. I'm having ongoing hot flashes/sweats, heat intolerance but like I'm burning up inside, especially the upper body (lungs, throat, windpipe). I can only stand up five minutes at a time the pain gets too bad in my low back/hips for more than that. And I still have to do everything by myself around here, including shopping, preparing foods & cooking foods every day & whatever house or yardwork needs doing as well. Except an disabled/lowincome/seniors agency is now doing my vacuuming & floor washing twice a month. But I do everything else myself. So I know how it is. Trying to get some rest here myself & have to just lie down a lot or be on the computer & sitting down a lot & that's not good for me either. I went " no mail " on this list two days ago & still getting emails. I should just be deleting them & not reading them. But I get lonely so come in here & see what everyone has to say & then want to participate & then I'm online for too many hours, yet again.
