Hi every one!

I am doing fantabulous! I am walking lots -1.5 miles today- I'm

getting used to the timing of when to take food, water, meds and

vitamins. I feel really good.

I really feel that the extra work I did the last month before

surgery - more walking and lots of deep breathing really helped.

Also I nagged the nurses to get me out of bed and up for my walks

around the hospital ward every 4 hours.

I had my mum with me until yesterday helping. She was the best

support person - encouraging me on my walks and getting me to step

out a bit faster each time. I still did my own cooking but she did

the clean up :-)

On the sleeping after surgery, the recliner is the bomb!! Also if

you have dainty footed hefty cats as I do and they MUST sleep on you

at night, a pillow over your tummy solves the problem of them walking

on your tender tummy. I never even twitched all night.

Ice chips are my saving grace. Thats how I get most of my liquid in

during the day.

Anyway, there it is, my last week and the things I have learned

Oh and I've lost 11 pounds so far :-)

Sounds like you are doing great Kerre! I'll remember the pillow trick

(for my rather large cat) and the recliner for sleeping.

Hi Kay,

Thanks. I think you were the one who first mentioned the recliner

trick and I took it to heart. It really was the best thing. As for

my cats, A friend suggested the pillow idea before I even left the

hospital - she was worried 'cuz she knows my kids walk all over me :-)

I woke up from a nap the first day home and there was Miss 11 pound

-bug of the tiny paws sitting on my tummy. Didn't feel a thing.

Cheers,

Kerre

Thnaks Lesa!

I over did the walking bit on tuesday. My poling place is just 3/4

mile down the road so I walked. I was fine there and most of the way

back but the last 1/4 mile really kicked my butt. I got home a took

a nap. But hey - I walked 1.5 miles :-) I've been keeping my walks

the last couple of days to 3/4 of a mile or so a couple of times a

day instead of all at once.

Cheers,

Kerre
