No One is Perfect

I was confronted one day by a relative who asked me " Who do you think

you are .. God? "

It caught me off guard for a second, until he continued by saying, " You

say you love everyone .. well that's a lie, I've seen you get angry! "

In reply to him I said, " Just because I get ticked off at someone or at

something they do, doesn't mean I stop loving them. "

The conversation got me to thinking about love and relationships .. and

is there such a thing as a perfect relationship.

No one is perfect in every way (would be boring I think if the world

were full of perfect people). It is the differences that make each of us

unique and the hardships we endure that help us to learn about, or to

come to terms with, our own faults.

We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see

an imperfect person perfectly.

We are all imperfect, but we can still show love and compassion by

finding the good points of a person's personality and accepting their

faults as part of their persona.

This is the basis for a loving relationship:

acceptance .. respect .. love.

The problems begin when one of a pair does not have one of those traits.

Those three traits form a triangle .. a solid base on which to build a

relationship. When one side of that base disappears or is weakened, the

relationship topples.

I am still striving to come to terms with my own faults. To try and

accept others for who they are is just as important as to respect their

differences; and to show this love and to not hide it under a barrel, so

to speak. Too many times I have missed an opportunity to tell someone

... I love you .. and have regretted it later.

So I want to start a little bit early and begin by saying .. I love you

... and I wish the best for you, now and in the future.

Love and light to you,

" Rion "
