Hi Doug,

Do read the section on FAQ's from the rheumatic.org. Also, Read the

histories section - individual's stories before/during/after AP. I

found them very helpful when I began the antibiotic protocol - it will

be three years for me this March. (These will give you some general and

some specific answers.)

That seems like the going rate for Minocin.

Also, best of luck and hang in there.

Doug,

You are one lucky fellow to have such an open-minded rheumy!! It is a

rarity!

I do not have psoriatic arthritis but from what I've read on this site, the

AP (antibiotic protocol/therapy) helps joints and psoriasis-won't that be

wonderful?!!

Have you read Dr. Brown's book, written with Henry Scammell, called " The New

Arthritis Cure " ? Great read and tells all about the AP and the wonders it

works with RA patients. You may experience a Herxheimer reaction (you get

much worse, before you get better-it's tough but worth it), then slowly, but

surely, you start thinking- " Hey, I just picked up a glass without pain " or

" I haven't been able to do that in a long time, without being in pain "

Hell's bells, I could not personally have typed on this computer for more

than 10 minutes, 2 years ago!! Makes me a happy camper!:)

Don't know about the price on the minocin-I luckily get mine free from the

military.

Good luck to you!

Hi Doug,

I think if it were me I would go with 3x aweek for a few weeks. It

will not blast your system with a massive die off like every day

will. This " reaction " is common and is why the slow start.( In the FAQ)

If you feel you need a stronger dose after you level off, then

incrasing it woud be good.

A lot depends too if you are already on a dmard and/or pred as they

do take away from the minocin. If you are, then you may chance the 1

a day..if not I would go with the 3x aweek.

This is only my non medical opinion.
