Guest guest
We went to a couple parties over the weekend, and Jack ended up eating a few things he shouldn't have. (one pretzel and half a chocolate chip cookie, a taste of frosting.) So I was waiting for the fallout, but nothing happened. What should I make of that? What types of reactions has everyone else seen after an infraction? How long do the reactions last? (I should mention his stool was still quite loose, as it has been since we started SCD. His stools are the same or worse since we started, but didn't seem different after he got into the food.) Thanks, mom to Jack 3.5 ASD SCD 7 weeks. Jody pointed out to me that something eaten two weeks ago could impact on one that much later . Bacteria don't multiply the minute you eat an illegal and not completely two days later. But once they are entrenched the trouble begins and it is essential to stifle and starve them. It doesn't hurt to go back to the " starting gate " and do the intro again. Carol F. Guest guest
, Since SCD is based on an entirely different concept than GF/CF, the situation with " infractions " is completely different, too. What he ate over the weekend might not cause an immediate reaction..... but could set back his overall healing process. You say that (even before he ate these illegals) his stools are still quite loose...... and the same or worse than before you started SCD 7 weeks ago? Can you tell us what he's currently eating? How likely is it that he may have gotten into other little bits of illegals along the way? I'm sure you'd like to see some improvement in the BMs. Are you seeing any other progress or changes? Guest guest
Patti, Thanks for the reply. I don't think he's getting illegals. I think we've gone too far, too soon. I tried the intro diet,(one day) but he just won't eat the chicken patties or cupcakes. He doesn't like eggs. He sometimes eats a little bit of steak or chicken. He loves the cashew butter muffins, lois lang bread made into pizza, he eats lots of fruit, juice, sugar free bacon. I'm not giving him yogurt, I'm giving him probiotics with water. He's starting to eat a few veggies. So we never really did a full intro diet and then slowly added things in. He refused to eat cooked fruit. He has been doing great though in other ways (besides the BMs) His conversational language is soaring, good eye contact, behaviors have evened out (except for when he thinks I'm mad or you say no.) We are doing many other interventions with him, too (supplements, allergy treatments, ABA.) We need to get him potty trained though. He's just not interested. But back to the diet, I just don't know how to progress as slowly as we need to when he won't eat anything allowed in the early stages. He's lost a little bit of weight since we started this and I have many nervous/skeptical relatives. Thanks for any advice. > , > Since SCD is based on an entirely different concept than GF/CF, the situation with " infractions " is completely different, too.
