It doesn't need the longer fermentation because there is no lactose.

With 8 hours there will be plenty of bacterial cultures.

And, I have the yogourmet yogurt

Are you taking the temperature in the yogurt? Are you starting with

homemade almond milk?

Hi Sheila, thank you for your reply. Yes I have fermented both for

24 hrs like Elaine says and they turned out wonderfuly, but my gut

just can't handle them for some reason. Maybe I am eating too much

of it? I don't go over 3 cups maybe 2 cups daily is what I was

eating.

> Are you taking the temperature in the yogurt? Are you starting

Yes I took the temperature in the yogurt both sides and middle but

trying not to disturb the yogurt fairies at the same time. But I

also just thought of something I did this when I first got the

yogourmet machine and I had forgotten one step. I had forgotten to

add water in bottom of yogurt maker before putting plastic jar in.

Would that have made a huge difference in the temperature? I am

going to make the almond milk yogurt either tonight or tomorrow night

and I will take the temperature again. And yes I will be making my

own almond milk, I like the challenge of trying something new in the

kitchen.

Two things that may help. First cut back the amounts. I know, it's

hard to do since it's so darn tasty but you need to start with small

amounts and gradually increase the amounts. The yogurt is very

potent and your body has to adjust to it. My suggestion is to cut

all yogurt out for a few days and then start with a small amount.

Since you are still having a fair amount of D you might want to start

with just a teaspoon one day and then skip a day. If it didn't

bother your stomach gradually increase the amounts, but go very

slowly building up the amounts.

Second idea: try dripping the yogurt. This helps many people who

are bothered by the straight yogurt. Details for dripping (including

pics) can be found at

Yes, it will make a difference to the temperature distribution.

Welcome (back)! Looking forward to more posts from you. Dive right in. Your

playing both sides of the fence really helps to give you a stronger start than

those who haven't tried this before.

BEST to you, Katcha

> Hello Everyone!!! I am new old to this!! I tried this way a few years ago,

but fell off and returned to diet land. Now I am ready to venture away from the

diet land back into the real food land. I have ordered some books from the

library to refresh myself on the way. I also ordered " the overfed head " with

little hunger level cards ( I need reminders). I would really like to eat like

a normal person, when I am actually hungry. And, not feel like I am eating my

last meal (and binge).

Hi ,

It's great to have you here. I can definitely relate to having a mom who is very controllling of food; mine was and I did a lot of rebelling. I also did sneak food as a teenager, and if either parent was headed towards my room, I'd hide the food under the bed.

You sound very busy with some very rewarding pursuits!

I love the IE process and would not go back to dieting ever again. Good luck, and glad you're on board!

Hello. My name is and I am just really starting to learn about the whole intuitive eating thing. I have been struggling with my weight ever since I can remember. Growing up with a mother who always tried to control the food I at which lead to me sneaking and hiding food, it is pretty easy to say I have a hate relationship with food and weight. Also, with the predominate threat of type 2 diabetes that runs through my family history there is even more stress on the need to lose weight and become "healthy." So I have been trying alternative methods and my acupuncturist/ alternative health doctor suggested intuitive eating. It has sounded very interesting so I wanted to reach out an give this a shot.Oh and the other element in my weight is that my life is schedule from today until forever making exercise and organizing what I eat difficult. I work a M-F 9-5, am pursuing an anthropology certificate, work in the evening and weekends on

theater productions, and teach ice-skating. Well anyways, I wanted to say hi and that I am very excited to learn more about this whole process.

Hi Everyone,

I joined this group last week and have been "lurking". Already I feel as if I have met my fellow "sisters" in the quest to not think about eating!

I am 36 years old. I was always a size 14 and thought I was huge. Of course looking back, I was just fine.

I had medical issues which required me to be on huge amounts of prednisone. I blew up like a balloon! My highest weight after I had my son in 2003 was 242. I am currently at 220 and am a size 18.

I have read all of Geneen Roth's books and have utilized alot of her concepts which is what brought me to 220. However I have stalled for two years and I have gone back and forth between IEing and Weight Watchers.

I am done with weighing myself every morning and I am done with the daily early morning resolutions about food and exercise. I want to live my life. I want to become the woman who doesnt think about food unless hungry. I want to be the type of person who forgets to eat when engrossed in something.

But, I do want to lose weight desperately and hence my struggle begins anew each day.

Ideally I would like to get down to 170 which is totally doable - I am not a super model nor do I want to be one.

Anyway, there are lots of great people on here and I look forward to more posts.

I hope everyone will enjoy their holiday season!

Hi Lori,

I'm glad you found this support group; it's awesome! And your goals sound terrific also. You can become all those things which you want to become.

Hope you enjoy the holidays and looking forward to getting to know you here.

Laurie

P.S. don't know why but sometimes I highlight to trim the post, and it doesn't delete what I want to delete; so it's not trimmed this time.
