Guest guest
Katcha,Did you sew both pants and shirts? I have considered trying to sew but it's not something I've pursued. Sometimes I find clothes which I just LOVE the way that they fit and make me feel and I want more of them. I've considered taking them apart and using them as a pattern and then sewing new ones in different colors. I agree that having clothes that fit and feel good does help us to not get stuck in the diet mentality. Good idea on just buying a few things. SharonSubject: Re: clothes and IETo: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Monday, September 21, 2009, 2:41 PM I resisted getting better fitting clothes when I started IE. It seems I was stuck in the I'm-going-to- fit-into- what-I-have- NOW mentality. Plus I felt that I liked the clothes I had (then) and didn't want to go to the expense and effort of getting what I hoped would be a 'temporary' wardrobe. After several bouts with tight clothes and diet mentality reactions to that, I decided to start back to sewing what I knew would really fit me better than what I had been buying 'cheap'. The results was excellent - I not only felt comfortable in what I was wearing, but I also had much better selection of colors and fabrics ( I prefer cottons and other naturals) than I had before. After a while I noticed that I wasn't wearing any my previous wardrobe, not just because they didn't fit like I HOPED they would, but rather because the newer clothes plain looked and felt better too. I would say that if one can afford a couple of inexpensive, but comfortable and flattering tops and pants, ideally that mix and match, then you may find that you can overcome the 'bad' feeling and focus more on IE practices than getting snagged by diet mentality? ,_._,___
