Hi,

As I read these emails having to do with photos and seeing oneself and the resulting negative reaction, I can empathize because for a very, very long time I felt exactly the same way! And now, I do still feel that way once in a while but not so often and certainly not consistently.

What I did to change my self-image surrounding my body was to read a lot of books about body image, but not just that but I read a lot about size acceptance.

I was thinking, does working on size acceptance mean you have to stay the same size forever? I used to think you just accept your body and that's that, no more weight loss.

Now I'm wondering if people who still would like to lose weight can still take advantage of size acceptance ideas by saying to themselves, I will work on accepting my body as it is just for right now. That doesn't mean my size won't change as eating the IE way gets easier, but just for right now I'll read some of the size acceptance literature and just have an open mind about learning to accept my body just as it is right now, not saying it won't be smaller in the future.

I mean a person can hate their body and still be open to reading these alternative size acceptance views. I mean these books about body image wouldn't be needed if the only people who read them were those who already liked their body! lol

I don't know if that would work or not, but maybe?

I'm interested in feedback about this idea. Thanks,

Laurie

Hi ladies. I have been lurking forever but saw these two posts and had to reply. I too saw some pics from Christmas day of myself and it made me feel horrible. I always seem to look a lot worse in pics than when I look at myself in the mirror. I just could not believe how HUGE I looked. I am really hoping to get pass this because now I don't even want to step outside of my house. ~Raina~
