[wacma]Chiari and Scoliosis

Dear Group,

Hi! I am quite new to the group. I am the mother of a(17) who was

recently diagnosed

with Chiari Malformation and basilar impression. a was diagnosed with

idiopathic scoliosis

at age 11, and the triple curves in her spine have progressed to almost

20,30, and 40 degrees.

She began showing neurological symptoms such as ataxia, numbness and tingling

in her hands

and feet, and autonomic nervous system disorders such as loss of body

temperature control

and sweating disorder. She is also diagnosed with central (caused by the

brain and not the thyroid)

hypothyroidism and is taking thyroid hormones. She also gets tired very

easily, and her toes

are icy cold even during the summer.

I have read quite a number of articles mentioning the relation between CM and

scoliosis, but

do not know of anybody who has similar problems and would like to know more.

I live in Japan

and the doctors here do not seem to understand what we are going through.

I would appreciate any kind of information concerning Chiari and Scoliosis,

and hypothyroidism.
