Guest guest
I am not sure about the ketosis, it seems to be a very individualized thing, but I can tell you to be careful with how many onions you have on the calves liver, onions are high in carb and cooking them can make them look alot smaller so there is potential for overdose if not careful, I STRONGLY suggest you bookmark this site and use it frequently to be sure of your carb intake!! http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl one slice of a medium onion 1/8 inch thick is 1.208 gms of carbs and .252 gms of fiber... so be sure you take that into consideration. I'm thinking calve's liver sauteed in butter and onion slices for tomorrow night--anyone think that's a problem?I really appreciate your forum, I've learned some good stuff.Maia
Guest guest
Live (one of my favorite foods) is not one of the better choices for induction. 3 ounces pan fried has about 6 carbs. I don't know about you but 3 ounces isn't enough for me. LOL --- tcmaia2001@... wrote: > I bought the strips, I'm still negative on day 5. And this time I > haven't cheated. Take it easy on the onion. And also, be aware that liver DOES have carbs in it - not enough to keep you away from it, and it is healthy and all, but it's not a 'free' meat. About the ketosis - have you lost any weight by now (or are you not weighing yet?) ? If you have, who cares about the ketostix. If not, try adding some more fat to your diet, that helps put you in ketosis. Good luck, Vered
Guest guest
Liver has carbs. 4.5 gm per 3 oz. it's not something I would eat on induction. Guest guest
I often go 8-10 hours without being hungry, especially if I've had a big protein/fat meal. Some people do lose faster with frequent, smaller meals than with larger, less frequent meals, especially when you start adding carbs. I'm not sure it's as important on low carb, but if you have trouble with overeating or hunger during the day, light snacking often helps. > I bought the strips, I'm still negative on day 5. Guest guest
My husband never got into the purple, but he still lost weight, I know he was drinking diet drinks with caffine in them So we got rid of those, he was using ketchup, got rid of that, He went to just eggs, hamberger and steaks, He still never got into the purple, So he put back the salad, and a few other things, he started to loose weight inspite of the no purple stick, Of course men I think loose weight alot easier then us women, maybe it has something to do with our hormores? hugs eileen I bought the strips, I'm still negative on day 5. And this time I haven't cheated. I have become so used to diets that want you eating every two hours recently, that I'm finding a new
Guest guest
Thanks, Tania, I'll skip the liver. Someone else mentioned their husband stuck to steak and eggs and lost weight, I've done steak 3 nights in a row and eggs/bacon or sausage 5 mornings in row with tuna every day for lunch. Since those are my favorite foods, guess I'll stick to them for a while as my " entrees " My ketosis stick was a shade pink this morning--progress! No I haven't lost weight, I weighed myself today for the first time since the day I started and I am exactly the same to the half pound! But I'm going to go the two weeks on this and see what happens. I do really like checking in on this forum every day, so thanks to all who have answered me and who post their own stuff. Gotta go to work, Maia > Liver has carbs. > 4.5 gm per 3 oz. > it's not something I would eat on induction. > Tania >
Guest guest
Eat your veggies too! Try following the turtles menus for 2 weeks. Just about every person who has stuck to them has lost weight, even those having difficulty losing. And they include all the healthy things we need :-) Kirstie
Guest guest
Hi Kirstie, I am new to Yahoo group. May I please ask you what the turtle menus are??? THANKS, Pamela --- Kirstie Hawkey wrote: > Eat your veggies too! > > Try following the turtles menus for 2 weeks. Guest guest
Maia, It is okay to have the same thing over and over, but you might want to try to find a little variety, or I'm afraid that by the end of induction you will be ready to gag if you even see one of those items again. Maybe you just need to experiment within the approved foods. It seems to me that either you are or are not going to lose weight eating at a certain carb level, so why not vary the foods at least a little? Guest guest
To those who are struggling to lose, heed Kirstie's advice that following the turtle menu does get people who are struggling to lose actually losing. The reason is that there is a lot of food, so you follow the plan and you are eating all the time, so you aren't hungry. You are eating the things you should in amounts that you should instead of guestimating and you lose because you are doing what you should have done in the first place. It is so easy to lose track of amounts and get more carbs than you thought you were. Jean 190/144.5/135 12/7/
