Guest guest
Jolene: Thanks for sharing this! I have to tell you, part of me wanted to close the article before reading it all because it is sprinkled with diet-ish talk. HOWEVER, I decided to read on because I know Martha Beck has a saying which mirrors the Intuitive Eating concept: " (eat only what you truly enjoy, and truly enjoy whatever you eat. " I think the article is written the way it is because it appeals to the masses. I was glad I picked through the diet talk to find some gems in the article. Here is one of them: " The successful participants in the ACT study simply learned to observe their self-loathing thoughts—calmly. It's like hiring Cesar Millan to train your inner schnauzer: PEACEFUL PRESENCE TRIGGERS THE CALM BRAIN STATE THAT ALLOWS PERMANENT WEIGHT LOSS. " (i capitalized that last sentence because i thought it extremely profound!) If the words WEIGHT LOSS are too threatening, try substituting them for something else like " health " or whatever force led you to wanting to be intuitive with your body. and another: From a place of stillness, openness, forgiveness, and acceptance, you can renew your commitment to any eating plan you like. She talks about our inner " calm observer " being the key. I like that. Thanks for sharing it, Jolene!
