Laurie, I am so very, very sorry about your mom. And I am sorry you're feeling

sick. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Laurie,

I'm so sorry to hear you've been under the weather, both emotionally and physically! My condolences to you on losing your mother, especially at this time of the year. Christmas is never the same!

Hope you'll be feeling great soon! Take care of yourself! Happy New Year!

All the best,

Jeanne

Laurie, its tough to miss a special person so very much. Its also good that you

just went with the flow of the emotions - even eating for some comfort. These

are occasions when we are best served to just 'be'.

Take care and catch ya here when you are feeling more up to it :)

Thanks ,

I'm still not up to writing any helpful emails, but I'm reading what people have to say so I'll still feel connected. I don't mean to whine, lol, but maybe I do want to :.) I've taken seven doses of benedryl since yesterday am and it hasn't made a dent in my allergy prob, but my bronchitis is going away.

I hope you have a very Happy New Year!!

Hi,

Thanks, and I'm working on feeling better :.) Well my mom didn't pass away this year, but Dec 27th is her anniversary and I have many, many conflicting feelings about my mom, so that's a tough day for me. But I'm ok with that now, at least for this year. I know this will sound strange, lol, but I'm looking forward to the New Year because there's something about 2010 as a number that sounds nicer than 2009, and what's really strange is I am not even a bit superstitious, and yet I feel this way :.)

Have a Happy New Year!

Hi Katcha,

Thanks so much :.) I'm feeling able to read and reply just a little; not quite back to normal yet, but doing better, and I appreciate the kind words.

Lori IE is about taking care of yourself - not just with food/eating, but whole

life too. Like not eating when one isn't hungry, resting when you do NOT feel

like much else is good too. Perhaps 'embracing' your cold/allergy and letting

your body do what it needs to do might be a better 'fight' than chugging meds?

Either way, just get well and we will be happy to have you here when you can :)

Hi Katcha,

Thanks :.) I don't normally need that much benedryl; I usually can take one dose, and only when it's an absolute must and the allergy diminishes; this time was so unusual for me! This was the first time I had a horrendous allergy attack so bad that the benedryl didn't work. (plus bronchitis) Brand new thing to deal with. I know this is going to sound really goofy to some of you, lol, but I don't care and don't mind sharing that after all that benedryl, lol, the only thing that DID work was to plug up my nose with vaseline so whatever was creating the allergy couldn't be sniffed in, lmao. THAT IS what I should have done right from the beginning! No more chugging meds for me :.) I really do think IE has to do with more than food; it's about listening to my body in other areas as well. Thanks for that insight.

Sometimes the more basic solution is the best. In any case I was quite glad that Wed morning before the worst of it hit, I was able to prepare some homemade chicken soup which has proved a wonderful help to me yesterday and today. I put a little baby spinach in as I rewarmed the soup and it was delicious and it felt like it had medicinal properties; very healing and soothing.

I'm still kind of tired, but probably am up for a short trip to blockbuster and back home :.)I hope everyone had a Happy New Year! I tend not to do resolutions, but I am hopeful that I'll heal some more childhood trauma stuff, and that I'll get even more comfortable with my IE. I guess the only resolution I'm sure I will keep is no dieting!!
