Guest guest
What I started doing with that is to schedule a time in the future with my husband, on the calendar, when we were gonna eat that again. So, if I get that way while eating pizza (I get that way on that one too) then we'll pick a day when we know we are going to eat it again and even pick the pizza place. Sorta like a date, lol. - GeorgiaTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Wed, December 30, 2009 9:19:09 PMSubject: "Last Supper" feelings from specific foods? Does anyone get "Oh, I blew it" feelings from certain specific foods even if you've only eaten a small amount of them? I've long known I felt this way about spaghetti, but now I can add pizza to the list. It's something I discovered tonight. It's not just *overeating* that gives me the "last supper" mentality ("I'll have to diet now, so I'd better eat all I can today since I blew the day anyway"). My DH ordered a pizza as a special treat for dinner and I had one piece...and IMMEDIATELY felt all Last-Supper- y. And I did overeat...I ate three (small, but still...!) pieces of pizza. I KNOW I was last-suppering. I still have the *feeling* and I feel like I'm restricting by *not* last-supper binging right now...How do I handle this? Any ideas? Guest guest
I think this is part of 'legalizing' food - I go back to the book often and reread; that might help you too. If you know you can have it again, then it will start to loose power. Chocolate chip cookies are my example - I used to eat dozens and then feel sick, and my dh would tell other people about my 'problem'. Now I enjoy one or two, and I can stop because I know can have them another time. You'll get there, stick to it. I like Georgia's suggestion... Er, I had recent attacks of last-suppering when I did some food experiment (I will post about thís later when I have sorted some things out). WHile usually I can say to myself that I won't go on another diet and can stock up I'm quite hesitant regarding this episode. Happy New Year! s.
