Guest guest
a, I use the vita oil first before the ZincO, but I would think that it would also be great directly on your skin. It's very light and soothing. Hope you like it too, Jen >I just ordered the ZincO Cream from Dr. Sy and am looking forward to using it. For those of you who have sampled it or tested it for Dr. Sy, other than topical medication, do you put anything under the ZincO as a barrier? In other words, do you use moisturizer? Or does the ZincO do fine directly on sensitive skin? > >a
Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, Unfortunately the list of ingredients isn't on the tubes that I have here, but I do know that there is no mineral oil in it! They don't have a list of ingredients printed out yet, but should have one soon. If you call the toll free number (1-) they are really helpful and can tell you pretty much what's in it from memory! Guest guest
Jen: Will the zincO cream work for protecting the skin when going on a vacation where there will be lots of heat and sun? I'm going to Tahiti, and I'm wondering if this cream will suffice as my sunscreen.
Guest guest
Hi , The zincO is SPF 20, so it's a great daily sunscreen for us. I can't say if it would be enough for your face in all that sun on vacation though. You might want something with a higher SPF if your skin can tolerate it. If it were me, I would be sure to have my big sun hat too! Have a great time! Guest guest
, Our Sy ZincO Cream SPF 20 should give your face good protection in Tahiti. Remember, it is a physical sunblock using microfine zinc oxide which protects from UVA, UVB and visible light. Physical sunblock works much like " an umbrella " on your skin. Therefore, applying a thicker layer will offer better protection. Good to re-apply a second time during the day and of course, wearing a wide brimmed hat helps too. Don't forget to apply a sunscreen on your torso as well. You've got skin there too and skin cancers develop as frequently on the torso. Most rosaceans can tolerate chemical sunscreens on their body - so you can choose one with SPF 30 for the torso. We offer an excellent waterproof sweatproof sunscreen that contains Parsol 1789 called Recreational Sunscreen SPF 30. This has worked very well for many in this group. A few more tips on sunscreen: 1) Be sure not to leave your sunscreens in a hot car or expose it to extremes in temperature as it may lose some of its efficacy. Sunscreens should have an expiration date - look for it. 2) When applying sunscreen on face, use your fingertips, so as not to leave out certain areas. 3) Do not forget to apply on the nape of neck, ears and the lips - very often missed areas and high incidence of skin cancers. Men with thinning hair - don't forget the scalp. 4) Apply adequate amount - for the face, 1/2 to 1 tsp amt. For the entire body - about 1 oz. for an adult wearing only bathing trunks. 5) Re-apply after 3 hours, after swimming & heavy perspiration, no matter what the sunscreen label says. 6) Finally, sunscreens, especially for fair-complexioned rosaceans, should be a year-round routine, even on cloudy days. Consistency is paramount! Enjoy your vacation! Guest guest
Dr. Sy: Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to respond to my question to Jen. That was very thoughtful of you, and I have ordered the Zinc-O and Vita Oil. I hope I will have it this week. I will call tomorrow and order your recreational sunblock as well. Now I can only hope that the heat in Tahiti won't cause me to be red-faced and stinging the entire time I'm there. If it does, everyone will just think I'm sunburned! This all started for me after I had a facelift. I keep hoping that it will go away (it's been one year). If it doesn't, I'm going to look into some light laser because I probably got a lot of broken capillaries due to the surgery. Anyway, thanks again for taking the time. I do appreciate it. Guest guest
I do not write that often to the group but I just wanted to let you know about my experience lately. I love this group and have been with it for a very long time. can vouch for that. We have lost some great people (Kerry, Skylar -- are you guys still out there) and have gained some wonderful people (, Jim -- you are a great help). I know some have been here long (Matija, Angelee, Bill) and thank you all. My rosacea can only be described as severe for the last five years. I have tried everything and basically was using Noritate and Klaron (spotting on the acne areas). I can't use makeup or soap on my skin and I have washed my face with water for the last several years. I decided to try Sy's new trial size zinco cream and I am amazed at how it is working for me. I could never use sunscreen before (burning sensation) so this is amazing to me. I simply wash off at night with a warm towel and even the mornings seem better. I did have five photoderm treatments done and stopped for financial reasons but I feel like I have been reborn with the zinco cream. Anyone who has not tried it yet should just invest in the trial size and use it alone for a while to see if you have any results. Honest to God, nothing has ever helped me before and this is just the most incredible feeling I could cry. I hope this lasts because life has never looked so beautiful. It's only been three weeks so far and I just ordered the full size. God bless and I pray we all find our answer out there. Dr. Sy, thank you so much for all you have done for us. Guest guest
Zinco is working great for me too!!!!!! Thanks Dr. Sy!!!!! ---------- From: ANSchiffer@...[sMTP:ANSchiffer@...] Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2000 2:52 PM To: rosacea-supportegroups Subject: ZincO Cream Hi Group and Dr. Sy, I have been meaning to write this post for a while. I want to add my thanks to the group and Dr. Sy for developing, introducing, and testing the ZnO cream. II have been using it for about three weeks and love it. It calms down my face, and evens out my skin tone. The color happens to be compatible with my complexion, allowing me to get away without wearing make-up. How is that for regaining lost freedom! I have even been able to cut back on my daytime topical medication (Cleocin-T). This is a true example of the payoff resulting from hard work, perseverance and cooperation. ----- Please read the list highlights thoroughly before posting to the whole group. see http://ii.net/~dp/rosacea/toc.html When replying, please delete all text at the end of your email that isn't necessary for your message.
