Guest guest
, The protocol you describe is often used. But my doctor uses oral clindamycin just like the IV protocol. 5-7 days of 1200mg of clindamycin every 6-12 weeks. I also take 300 mg of clindamycin once a week. Remember if you use it you must remember to take acidopholis and/or yougert. If you get any diaherra (sp?)you should stop immediately and call your docs. > Hi everyone. was wondering if anyone is familiar with the oral > clyndamycin method? i am considering trying to get some online > maybe. i am taking minocycline 3 times a day now for about 3 weeks. > i have read that AP docs have had some success with 1200 mg once a > week of oral clindamycin instead of IV's. since my docs aren't > supporting me i thought what the heck. maybe i need to do more on > my own. anyone have any info on the oral clR? thank you > and hope all is well with everyone. > > rachael
Guest guest
Hi , You are correct. Oral clindamycin is taken as a single 1200mg dose, once a week, on a day when you're not taking minocycline. If you can't get the IVs then oral clindamycin may make a difference for you if you have severe or long-term disease. If you take oral clindamycin as well as oral minocycline, then it's even more important that you take a good probiotic as you will have two antibiotics affecting your gut flora, which need to be replenished. Oral clindamycin is usually cheap also - at least it is certainly cheap here in Australia compared with Cleocin which is used for the injections. Chris. Guest guest
Hi , >I was wondering if you happen to know how long i take the single dose of clindamycin...and should i start out lower than 1200 mg once a week and build up? i have 8 weeks worth but could probly get more. The dose of oral clindamycin is usually 1200mg in a single dose, once a week, right from the start. Usually you would continue with the oral clindamycin until blood work normalises, but you could see how you get on with the eight weeks' worth to start with. Let us know how you get on. Chris.
