Guest guest
" How do you drip yogurt " Get a bowl, put a sieve on the bowl, put a teacloth in the sieve (folded so that you have 4 layers of cloth). Pour all yoghurt + fluids in the cheesecloth so that it can drip. Drip for about an hour, or longer if you'd like the yoghurt thicker. By pressing the dripped yoghurt further, you can make something that resembles cheese. " Do you do it after it's been cooked in the yogurt maker " FIRST it needs to firm up overnight in the fridge! " Do yo drip it in room temp or put it in the fridge " Nut yoghurt can be done at room temp, the goat yoghurt I have been dripping in the fridge. Goat yoghurt took longer. " Can it be eaten after you drip it " yes Marjan Neherlands
Guest guest
Hi My 6 yr old his 8th month on scd. Horrible die off in the beginning, Again at about 2 1/2 months. We introduced goat's yogurt the last week of May, after about 4 days I started noticing eye stim and cognitive difficulties which were not an issue for him previously. It concerned me and I thought it was a regression. The first week of June we saw the Dan doctor, who wanted me to back off from the yogurt due to the casein. So I stopped the goat yogurt and introduced the nut yogurt. The " staring " went away and the cognitive issues disappeared also. I did not see any changes with the nut yogurt, and kept using without good or bad signs. Last week I reintroduced the goat yogurt and I am going very slow. This is day 8 and we are still doing 1/2 tsp. daily. I did not see any " staring " or obvious cognitive issues, however he is extremely clingy, fixated in some subjects which were long gone, and being very strict with routines. This little guy has been very easy going for quite a while, transitions has not been a issue for a long time. We had even dropped the classroom aid to just 2 days a week and he was handling fine on his own on a nt classroom .. Now he does not want me to leave the camp for a minute, anxiety seems to have increased, dark circles under his eyes, problems sleeping. I had to return to melatonin, which we had stopped 2 months ago and sleeping has been fine. Today he had a big meltdown because they were going to ride the horses outside instead of the inside arena, which he has done before and was fine. Could this be sign of regression or could this be die off. I have not seen any good sign. The poop which was formed and still a little discolored, is mushy (not d), with a lot of undigested food in it. Undigested food on his stools has always been an issue, however it had diminished immensely lately, and now I notice it all over again. Please give me your thoughts on this matter. Thanks, Barschi, son 6yrs old scd 7 months. Intro done about 2 months after starting scd.
Guest guest
, I am delighted to hear of the great progress your son is having with SCD! We have found that there is a big difference between 1/8 of a teaspoon and 1/2 of a teaspoon for symptoms of die off reactions. We recommend starting with 1/8 of a teaspoon with children who are very sensitive to dairy. Please decrease the amount and try it for a little longer. If you see no improvement for several weeks then try the goat yogurt at a later time...when the gut has had more time to heal. Keep up the good work, Mimi > Hi > My 6 yr old his 8th month on scd. Keep up the good work, Mimi Mimi, Thanks for the reply, I have new info on the matter, however. At pick up from camp today, I noticed my son's water had not been touched, so I asked the counselor how come he did not had his water. She said, " He drank lemonade all day today. " So I asked my son and he had the lemonade " store bought " God knows the brand and amount of sugar and preservatives on Wednesday and Thursday, so apparently the big meltdown was a result of 2 glasses of sugar lemonade. What enzymes should I give him.? It is so frustrating when you are trying to monitor food challenge and this happens. But I guess it is hard when the kids starting leaving the home protective environment.....
