Guest guest
What I failed to mention is that things are going pretty well personally. Think one of my biggest problems is my inability to handle my emotions and stress in a more healthy manner than overeating and how I will handle setbacks while going through the IE process. Scary stuff!! Jeanne
Guest guest
Thank you, Katcha, for your encouragement! I've made good strides but still have a way to go! Since I'm 59, you'd think I would have conquered the demons by now, wouldn't you? One thing I'm going to have to be careful and cognizant of is the abolutist thinking because the shoulds, musts, oughts, etc., are too much a part of thought process and have been for too long. Thanks, Jeanne
Guest guest
Hello, Jeanne. Isn't it ashame what garbage we allow our minds to be filled with ... for us, it's from the world of dieting? Bravo for putting your WW materials away. I actually threw mine all out before even starting the book. I was that determined that this was the only solution for me. I do still get on the scale from time to time as well, but it's more to prove that I'm doing okay rather than to track progress (if that makes sense). It's an inspiration to me rather than a check point. Sounds like you're doing well. Blessings, Sharon I have been sitting back reading the book IE and your posts, trying to learn from you who are further along in the IE process. It has been two months since I joined the group and would like to share how I'm doing. Think I'm making progress on rejecting the diet mentality, having tossed my WW magazines out and other magazines with weight loss articles. My WW materials have been stored away out of sight; haven't had the courage to throw them out yet, but I figure " out of sight , out of mind. " Have to admit I do weigh myself once in awhile and have gained back all the weight I lost a year ago. Try not to let it " go to my mouth " or feel bad about myself. Think I like being a little more fluffy! Am trying to honor my hunger and eating when I feel hungry and stopping when satisfied or comfortable. IE is certainly challenging because this is a totally different way of thinking and doing for me. I've noticed now that since I've pretty much given myself permission to eat anything I want, I don't seem to want those sweets I used to scarf down. Never realized until I stepped away from WW and reading IE just how dieting can screw up your thinking. Thanks for listening, and thanks for your sharing your personal experiences! All the best, Jeanne
Guest guest
Jeanne I am recently 59 too No gain can be got from past 'shame', the important part is that we are still kicking and learning too. Guest guest
Jeanne, It's so nice when we can just enjoy our bodies as they are now!!! I agree about dieting screwing up your mind and perspective. I'm realizing more and more than everything I thought about food, eating, and health was totally bassackwards. Has anyone seen the old Woody film Sleepers? He's somehow in the future, I don't remember how, and their telling him, they figured out a long time ago that sugar and fat are actually good for you. That's how I look at food now. It's all good, and none is bad. Good Luck, Sara Think I like being a little more fluffy! > Never realized until I stepped away from WW and reading IE just how dieting can screw up your thinking. > > Thanks for listening, and thanks for your sharing your personal experiences! > > All the best, > Jeanne >
