Hi ,

I do remember feeling quite fearful about whether I'll inflate like a balloon! I do think many if not most who set out on this path do wonder that. I do know that you've got to be your own guru and find out for yourself, but if it helps to know that I'm losing a bit of weight and eating whatever I want, I'm happy to mention that :.) The key for me was becoming ready to really deal with emotions in other ways than food (this comes gradually, no pressure), and learning that comfortable satiety thing and not caring if any of this is 100%! lol

But as I said, I just offer where I'm at and hope it's encouraging while knowing you've got to take it at your own pace :.)

Thanks Katcha, I so relate! I'm very much in the begining phases of IE, so it's still a very foreign concept for me to think I can have any food that i want. I have felt like a small child again many times in this process. It brings me back to when my body was in charge instead of my mind. I know there is a balance with the 2, but at this point I have been ignoring what my body really wants to eat. I have been listening to when I'm hungry most of the time, but would not give myself what exactly I wanted to eat. So, that is still a little overwhelming at the moment. Thanks to the awesome advice from this site, I am just concentrating on my hunger/fullness and taking my decisions minute by minute. It's crazy. I can't believe how scary it is for me trust my body, trust that I won't inflate like a helium balloon if I eat what I want. haha I really think that sometimes. I just have to keep moving forward. Have a great day.

Well I understand how easy it is to forget feelings; they are what I was trying to avoid by eating, so it's very easy to focus on all the mechanics of how we feed ourselves and forget the feelings aspect :.) But of course that's when I find myself grabbing a piece of chocolate, and then I remember "what am I feeling right now?"

Thank you Laurie! Yes it does help to hear about your progress. It funny how I forget that this whole journey really is about feelings. Ahhhh, I always forget that. I wonder why.....haha. >> Hi ,> I do remember feeling quite fearful about whether I'll inflate like a balloon! I do think many if not most who set out on this path do wonder that.
