Guest guest
Hi. I'm new here but this post caught my eye because I was just DXd as Vitamin D deficient. The lower limit of the test was 30 (I think the range was 30-100, maybe? Something like that) and I tested at a 20. It was a fluke, at least to me, b/c I was being retested for various issues to do with my thyroid and tiredness. I'm hypothyroid and have been on Synthroid for a year. Anyway, I don't have leg pain but I definitely am overweight and I definitely am low on Vitamin D. I'll be seeing an endocrinologist in two weeks. She's supposed to tell me what to do about the Vitamin D. I'll post more about it when I know more. Nice to meet you. > > Hi everyone, > I was just wondering if any of you caught the Dr. Oz episode today? It was quite interesting, he mentioned that many overweight people suffer from a vitamin D deficiency and this can cause severe leg pain and cramping. I have fibromyalgia and have long blamed that on my leg pain but in my quest to re-gain my health I started taking vitamins about 2 months ago…including vitamin D! I have had only very mild leg pain recently and after watching Dr Oz I am convinced that it was the deficiency in this vitamin that caused it! I just wanted to share that as I wish I had known it sooner, I have suffered through several years of quite severe leg pain and never has my Dr suggested that it might be something as simple as a vitamin deficiency! >
Guest guest
Also, ask you dr about taking natural thyroid (brand name is Armour), I take both and feel much better than when only on sunthroid...MikkiSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Tue, 22 Dec 2009 07:36:29 -0000To: <IntuitiveEating_Support >Subject: Re: Vitamin D Hi. Guest guest
Thanks, Mikki. I will ask the endo in January. My PCP didn't want to try it. I am also thinking of just asking to add Cytomel to my T4. We shall see. Mel > > > > Hi everyone, > > I was just wondering if any of you caught the Dr. Oz episode today? Guest guest
I too was just diagnosed w/ vit. D deficiency the range is 25.0-80.0 and I was at 14.25. Right now I am on Vit. D 50,000 units once a week for 12 weeks. I have heart issues and that is why they ran the blood work. I wish I could have heard what Dr. Oz had to say Sally Subject: Re: Re: Vitamin DTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Tuesday, December 22, 2009, 2:27 PM Also, ask you dr about taking natural thyroid (brand name is Armour), I take both and feel much better than when only on sunthroid...Mikki Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry From: "MELANIE K" <autumngirl896@ yahoo.com> Date: Tue, 22 Dec 2009 07:36:29 -0000 To: <IntuitiveEating_ Support@yahoogro ups.com> Subject: [intuitiveEating_ Support] Re: Vitamin D Hi. Guest guest
i was also diagnosed with vit D deficiency -- i went to the doctor complaining of feeling exhausted all the time. i was a 20.i've been on 50,000 units weekly plus 1000 units daily for a few months. i feel SOOOO much better. it's amazing! from what i've been reading in the literature, the vast majority of us, especially those with darker skin or those who always wear sunscreen or who live in northern lattitudes, are vit D deficient. i think 400 units is safe for everyone and 1000 almost certainly is as well.i've been hearing that levels can be as high as 100 for optimal health. abby I too was just diagnosed w/ vit. D deficiency the range is 25.0-80.0 and I was at 14.25. Right now I am on Vit. D 50,000 units once a week for 12 weeks. I have heart issues and that is why they ran the blood work.
