Hi. I'm new here but this post caught my eye because I was just DXd as Vitamin D

deficient. The lower limit of the test was 30 (I think the range was 30-100,

maybe? Something like that) and I tested at a 20.

It was a fluke, at least to me, b/c I was being retested for various issues to

do with my thyroid and tiredness. I'm hypothyroid and have been on Synthroid for

a year.

Anyway, I don't have leg pain but I definitely am overweight and I definitely am

low on Vitamin D. I'll be seeing an endocrinologist in two weeks. She's supposed

to tell me what to do about the Vitamin D. I'll post more about it when I know

more. :)

Thanks, Mikki. I will ask the endo in January. My PCP didn't want to try it. I

am also thinking of just asking to add Cytomel to my T4. We shall see. :)

I too was just diagnosed w/ vit. D deficiency the range is 25.0-80.0 and I was at 14.25. Right now I am on Vit. D 50,000 units once a week for 12 weeks. I have heart issues and that is why they ran the blood work. I wish I could have heard what Dr. Oz had to say

i was also diagnosed with vit D deficiency -- i went to the doctor complaining of feeling exhausted all the time. i was a 20.i've been on 50,000 units weekly plus 1000 units daily for a few months. i feel SOOOO much better. it's amazing!

from what i've been reading in the literature, the vast majority of us, especially those with darker skin or those who always wear sunscreen or who live in northern lattitudes, are vit D deficient. 

i think 400 units is safe for everyone and 1000 almost certainly is as well.i've been hearing that levels can be as high as 100 for optimal health.
