Diane that is absolutely fabulous! Isn't it wild that the most amazing

discoveries are so simple and basic? Makes me wonder how we came to allow

ourselves to let go of our INternal focuses in the first place?

Yay you! And thank you very much for sharing this great moment. It reminds and

inspires me too.

IEing since March 2007

dried like raisins better than the sugar in cereals! I found myself stuffing the

raisins in my mouth and then i thought - wow I can't handle those (diet

mentality) - and then I thought IE - HOw about eating ONE AT A TIME! Actually

tasting each one! There is chocolate in my fridge and cakes in my cupboards -

and I see the raisins and that is what I want! Awesome!

these were things I just ate in such volumes to stuff myself so I wouldn't eat

all " those other things " . I never really tasted them or if I did - I would say

- never mind - they aren't things to waste time on.

Wild, right? My new found discovery is that I can change an eating pattern I've

had for a long, long time.

First of all, I would eat the parts of the meal (let's say all the things that

come in a salad), whether I really like them or not. And then in a meal like

with a main dish and two sides, I would eat the side I liked the least first and

so on. I have now come into this realization through IE that I don't have to

eat what I don't really like. What a concept, right? lol

It is a difficult habit to change for me sometimes because it is so ingrained

over years, but I now sort of try and " make " myself try eating what I like best

first. it's so foreign to me still, but I know it will help with my ie journey.

It's like katcha, gillian and others on here say quite a bit (about take one

concept at a time and work on that.) It really does work.

KT, i do this too... eat the things i like least, first, to save the good stuff for later. it's a hard habit to break, isn't it???i like to think of it as sort of a carpe diem thing... what if a meteor strikes in five minutes and i ate all my crusts but didnt get to eat the yummy middle of the sandwich... that'd be a bummer!

what i am struggling with this week is when i am hungry and nothing i have in the house sounds good and i'm too lazy to cook... eating something that doesnt taste good is a chore! but so is finding the energy to get something (cook, order in) that sounds appealing. a challenge for sure!

I'm glad someone else does that. lol I understand about not having stuff in the

house. I will crave sweets so bad if I don't get some in the house. (It's the

opposite of everything I used to do in ww. I used to think I couldn't have it

in the house. ;-)

Actually, I didn't specifically mention this group. I just talk about intuitive

eating over there (as some do in that dietsurvivors group.) :-)

Oh, maybe I did. Hmm...maybe a while back. ;-) Well, welcome anyway! I really

like it here. I get concentrated IE info. here and that's why I really like it.

Hello,

I beleive that I may have discovered something. At lunchtime, I ate my lunch

but found that for some reason, I couldn't seem to eat it fast enough and then

finally when I was able to to slow down, I discovered it was too late because I

was sickenly full. I am beginning to wonder if I am truly realizing when I am

hungry or if I am waiting too late or early to eat. A couple of hours later, I

started to eat some chocolate even though I was not hungry. It seems as though

the chocolate provided additional comfort and relief from boredom despite the 30

minute walks that I took throughout the day. I believe that the opportunity to

eat chocolate provided an escape from emotional boredom despite the fact that I

was working. I also beleive that I may be somewhat emotionally exhausted.
