Hey guys,

I was just reading a few articles on The Road Back web site, and it states that

if you use the Minocin twice a day or even just once a day it could be too much.

It states that, " Daily or twice daily doses of antibiotic used long-term can

make the response to the treatment in some patients worse than the disease, and

can also permanently inhibit the respiratory enzymes. Pulse therapy gives

tissues already sensitized by inflammation, a chance to recover. " It recommends

the Mon-Wed-Fri treatment. I feel like I might have messed myself up. I have

been taking the Minocin twice a day since Jan of 2001. And twice within the

past year I have been told that I have a lot of oxygen in my blood. Does anyone

here know what I am talking about, and if so could you please email me with any

experience that you might have with this. I am now in panic mode. How do they

test for this?

Best wishes to all,

Mel

The dose needs to be adjusted for each individual patient. Some people

can take 200mg Minocin daily with no problems. Dr. Brown's protocol

recommends " 100 or 200mg on Mon Wed and Fri " as you quote.

As you've been on high doses since 2001, you could try dropping to Mon

to Fri with weekends off to start with and see how you feel. Then at

the weekends you can take more acidophilus to help your gut keep in

good shape. If you feel better on that dose, stay on that for a few

weeks and then you could try cutting out Tues and then Thurs.

In general, the intermittent dose is better for the long term, but each

patient is different and you'll need to work out what is best for you.

However, make any changes slowly so your body gets time to adjust.

Chris.
