I am new here but not necessarily new to the IE concept...it's just been at least 7 years since I was really practicing it.  So...I'm trying to find my way thru it again.  Here's one question though...

I have a husband and a 4 year old and through adoption, our family is going to add one or two more children.  Since marrying, but especially since having children, I find that at family meals, I try to eat my food quickly enough so that I can actually get it down before someone needs me to do something and then it's cold.  I've noticed my child eats using IE and I encourage that...but it also means she's up and and running around or something while I'm trying to eat.  It's just all chaos.  Which means I'm eating as quickly as possible so that I can manage the chaos.

So...for those of you with families...how do YOU practice IE at family meal times?  I am okay during breakfast and lunch as I just feed my daughter and then eat later when I'm hungry.  But those family meal times...that's tricky.  Thanks for any thoughts.

We just don't do the family meal. I eat when I'm hungry, my husband eats when

he's hungry, each child eats when their hungry. I just can't imagine us all

being hungry at the same time.

If you feel you might miss the family meal, I'm sure there are other family meal

eaters who can help you with that. Or you could substitute family game time for

that time, or something.
