Guest guest
Hi Jo, First, congrats to you for your huge accomplishment! You let go of the diet thoughts, if only for a meal, and experieced peace within yourself. That's HUGE, and you should commend yourself for that. I am exactly where you are. I'm a newbie to IE, and have been " plagued " by diet thoughts for a very long time. It's incredible the amount of peace you get when you eat what your body wants, and forget the calories or eating what you think you're SUPPOSED to eat. That's what got us here in the first place, right? As for the dieting thoughts and when they'll stop, it's a good question. I think that factors such as 1) How long you've been dieting, and 2)your willingness to try IE wholeheartedly and confront your relationship around food will play a big role into diet thoughts. It's quite possible that diet thoughts, altho a much softer voice, will always exist (societal prressures, etc) but your practice in IE will triumph. I guess that's why they say IE is a journey...not an end result. Best of luck on yours, and know that you have a forum of people here to support you. I've had diet thoughts again and have been fighting eating whatever; however, today I tried giving myself permission and felt a sense of calm and not one diet thought until I just posted of course. When will these thoughts of diet go away? I don't want to make the diet industry leaders richer. > > Thanks, > Jo. >
Guest guest
I still struggle with diet thoughts too, but I find if I stay away from diet books, magazines, websites, etc., I don't think them as much. Keeping garbage out of my head really clears my thoughts. At the end of the day, I think it just takes practice. Those dieting thoughts took time to develop, and healthy thoughts take time to develop too. McKella > > I've read several posts here about giving oneself permission to have it if one wanted it.
