Moi, aussi! (Me too!)

Yes, by elephant vagina, I'm assuming you're referring to your Labia Majores

being REALLLLLLY " MAYORES! " --like swollen with fluid to about five times the

normal size?!

And by " elephant vagina " --aren't you thinking of " Elephantiasis of the

Testicles " ???

(If you ever saw this in a medical book, you'd never forget it!!)

Oh, yes....I had this SAME symptom, but no, I don't remember anyone else

reporting this on this list--until you wrote!

My " labia gigantes " problem was so bad post-op, that I literally could

not walk without clutching my crotch. I was staying with my Mom and my sister

at the time (who had had surgery, as well!!) They teased me MERCILESSLY for

my crotch clutching. It was especially funny to them, because the big

interview had been shown on TV the night after I came home from the

hospital--so my crotch-clutching was very timely.

I also had a SEVERE ALLERGY (bright red skin and welts!) because of the

adhesive tape. And a deep black BRUISE. Not a pretty sight.

The funniest part of the " Labia Muy, Muy Muy Mayores: "

At the post-op, my normally poker-faced, unresponsive gyno had a look of

undisguised HORROR when he looked at my pelvic area.

This was not my imagination. He appeared STUNNED.

As if I was a freak of nature! He looked at my pelvis as if he was viewing

the bearded lady, or the three-headed turtle!!!

He said he had never seen this response post-myo before. I know it is not

that uncommon--it's the body's response (fluid=lymph) to an inflammatory event.

Later, the body absorbs the fluid, and the swelling subsides completely. With

my allergic reaction, I was swollen for quite a while!

****************************************

Oh, and one other common experience: the surgical nurse (not during my

myo--another surgery) inserted an IV in my hand that felt like a form of

Medieval

torture. My hand was killing me--but she INSISTED I couldn't feel a thing.

Yeah, right!

My last memory before losing consciousness was the surgeon appearing in the

OR and upon viewing the hand with the IV (now red, swollen, and a bit bloody)

" WHO THE HELL DID THIS & ^*^ & $^# IV on this poor woman's hand?!?!?!? " He

yelled at that nurse with such ferocity I even felt a little sorry for her. And

he redid the IV himself.

Anyway, enough about me! Thanks for your post. Glad you're on the mend now,

and do keep in touch with the LOL!
