Guest guest
Hello Kim, Thank you for taking time to respond to my concern. For me, there was a momentary ray of light shinning in my direction, I mistook it for hope, and completely relaxed mentally. I almost got steamed rolled by an on-coming train. Once again, thank you for raising issues that I need to discuss with my physician inorder to avoid an unnecessary collision course with a neuro flare-up. I dread the throught of being hospitalized and would do whatever is medically necessary not to go back even if it means staying on steriods longer. Stay well, God Bless Marge NeuroSarcoid66@... wrote: Marge Welcoem to the group. Rose is right, research shows that NS almost always flares back up once prednisone is stopped. When I was on prednisone other immunosuppressents, in my case methotrexate and plaquanil, were added to the prednisone so that they had time to build up in my system and take effect well before we started to taper the prednisone. Each time i have been switched to a new drug, with the exception of once when I had an allergic reaction, I have always been weaned off one while building up on the new one, to allow the old one to cover the new one while it built up and "took hold' so to speak. i have flare every time i am on a drug for a short period of time it seems, nothing works very long for me. the sarc seems quite resistant to almost everything. I would talk with your Dr about this. Ask him if he is planning to replace the prednisone with another immunosuppresant drug. if not, ask him how he will monitor you to be sure you are not flaring back up and if he determines that you are what drug he will use. most of the immunosuppressants meds take much time to begin working and build up in your body, it is best to start them while on the prednisone and while the sarc is still in good control. talk to your dr about these concerns. take care kim~~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~~The Neurosarcoidosis CommunityNS CHAT:- Has been cancelled for now.Message Archives:-http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Neurosarcoidosis/messagesMembers Database:-Listings of locations, phone numbers, and instant messengers.http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Neurosarcoidosis/database
