Guest guest
Hello Again Everyone, I've just received some further correspondence from Geoff suggesting again that I consider only posting " SOUL FOOD " weekly rather than daily. I tried to explain, as best I could last time, the reason I felt called to place these posts. I have had RA for 22 years now since the age of 21. During the course of those years I became housebound on many occasions for long periods awaiting hip and knee replacement operations. The further my physical body deteriorated, the more I found the need to nourish my spirit and seek to find a means to make some kind of sense out of all the pain and deformity. I always loved poetry and began reading and writing that again and also collecting quotations. During many lonely hours, I found it comforting to feel I had the company of all these wise travellers who had gone before and so many had been thinking and feeling just like me, so I wasn't so isolated and alone anymore. When we went on line earlier this year and I was able to join the RB BB, I found it so marvellous to have the companionship of all these fellow-travellers after going the AP route alone here for 8 years with very little support and No encuragement whatsoever. As I was being nourished in many ways by others, I wanted to give something back in return and hence, " SOUL FOOD " was born. I have received so many encouraging comments so often on how helpful others have found it, that I truly believed that out of my limited resources, I was doing something worthwhile by posting it. I really don't believe that posting it once a week would make it of any value at all, as it would not then meet people at their point of need, which I believe is daily. Perhaps it would be better after all, if I just post it daily only on the Dr. Brown's Legacy site, seeing it would appear to be an unwelcome addition to some on here. I guess redundancy is something we all have to face constantly, even when the work concerned is done on a loving and voluntary basis. Hugs Maree. Guest guest
Please don't stop posting on here on a daily basis. Some are unable to read here on a daily basis and may miss " Soul Food " if only presented one day a week. Just my opinion, Carol/Piney rheumatic Re: " SOUL FOOD " > Hello Again Everyone, I've just received some further correspondence > from Geoff suggesting again that I consider only posting " SOUL FOOD " > weekly rather than daily. > I tried to explain, as best I could last time, the reason I felt > called to place these posts. > I have had RA for 22 years now since the age of 21. I notice that people who have come from the RBF bulletin board haven't gotten the hang of mailing lists yet. This certainly isn't helped by the way some people insist on using the interface instead of just subscribing via email. As I've said before, the choice isn't all or nothing like it would be with a fixed web board. Multiple mailing lists can be directed into the same Inbox to create the desired result. If you want a group where there's chat, jokes and medical information, you subscribe to chat, jokes, and medical information mailing lists. It's the same as baking a cake - you combine the ingredients you want into the end result you want. Off topic posts are the equivalent of someone standing in the sugar production line putting in strawberry flavouring. What if someone wanted chocolate instead? Web boards are an inefficient and practically inconvenient method of communicating, and I wish whoever thought of the concept had been shot on the spot. -- spwhite@... Guest guest
Does anyone know a doctor in OR or WA that will put a patient on AP? Is there a list of doctors somewhere that will prescribe it? If not, maybe there should be. Perhaps those of you who are on it would be willing to list their doctors names addys, and ph. numbers, if the sysop would agree. I am so excited about this. Can't wait to see what my rheumie says in Jan.. My brother is a doctor at Washington University Hospital in charge of prescriptions and diagnotics. Will consult with him also. Just one question...how much does this therapy generally cost? Do insurance companies generally pay for it? If not, is it expensive? Pris Xmas gift for piggy? If you want a group where > there's chat, jokes and medical information, you subscribe to chat, > jokes, and medical information mailing lists. , I've come close to offering to start an " InspirationAndlaughs " list or a " SoulFood " list as an adjunct to this list several times, but will take this opportunity to check with you first. It might be nice if it were explicitly endorsed by the rheumatic.org folks, or Maree or Jeanette or anyone else could set one up. If someone wants to do this, I would be glad to help. Then it would simply be a second list anyone could subscribe to who wants, but those who don't want it will not receive it. > Web boards are an inefficient and practically inconvenient method of > communicating, and I wish whoever thought of the concept had been shot > on the spot. I agree with your first point, but am not so sure about the second -- Jean

This is an alternative suggestion, based upon 's comments listed below. Guest guest
Apchat could serve this purpose, couldn't it?
