Guest guest
That so great Dawn yay for you just take things slowly one day at a time. Eva Okay, day 2...This morning I had a peaceful and positive experience with grocery shopping...for the first time in a long time! IE chapter 2 tells me not to focus on nutrition in the beginning, so I decided to try that. I just shopped for FOOD, not for a diet or for a certain weight or certain nutritional rules. My usual grocery outings seem to be two purposes: either to lose weight, or to binge. If I'm feeling "rational," I don't buy anything sweet or fatty, only fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc. But that inevitably leads to a binge shopping trip a few days later, where I'm looking for desserts to binge on as soon as I get home. Today I was just shopping for an assortment of food, and it turned out fine, for example, I bought blueberries and ice cream sandwiches...in the same shopping trip!Okay, maybe that doesn't sound too spectacular, but it feels different! I don't know if I've ever looked for ice cream without that crazy, spinning-out-of-control binge mentality. It felt empowering to ALLOW myself to buy ice cream.Dawn------------------------------------
Guest guest
Dawn, Congrats. Good feeling. I too went shopping yesterday and had a good IE experience. Just legalizing all over the place lol.. Also I made sure I bought large amounts of whatever I was legalizing. that way I don't feel like I will run out quick, thereby triggering the bingy stuff. So far so good. Guest guest
That's awesome Dawn! The fact that your experience at the grocery store actually " felt " different...that you felt empowered is significant. What you're experiencing is a part of the making peace with food process. Woohoo! L:) > Okay, maybe that doesn't sound too spectacular, but it feels different! I don't know if I've ever looked for ice cream without that crazy, spinning-out-of-control binge mentality.
