Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just wanted to clerify something. I had my surgery in Houston, Texas, not at North Shore. Sorry, I can't give you first hand experience. Anyway, I have several links for you to go to about things at the hospital. The best on hospital info. is http://www.northshorelij.com/visit/index.cfm click on visitor in for and hospital stuff on the left and it tells about parking and stuff and gives lots of numbers. Also, the long island railroad system is www.mta.nyc.ny.us/lirr/html/ttn.greatnec.htm I hope that this helps. Oh yeah, the reason that my husband go to stay the first week with me is because Herman Hospital was so full, they only had a private room, but he got a bed and everything. Also, ask the social worker at the hospital for help, they helped us with parking and meals and even brought me a tv/vcr in ICU since I was the only one awake in there. Who ever wrote about the Quality Inn in Hempstead was right, it is the only hotel in the area that is under 100 a night. It listed at 69 a night, but I bet it gets booked fast. the address is 80 Clinton Street, Hempstead, NY 11550 It is 7 miles from the hospital and says it is by the long island railroad. I will keep checking on things that might help, but please call the social workers. I didn't know until my last stay that they are there for just support, they are there to help families and they have long lists of ways to help. Especially with meals and parking. You can also call parking direct and ask about low income family help. or rates for extended stays. I hope this helps everyone. If I have to have surgery again, I want to try dr. Milhorat and the Chiari Center. Good luck everyone, Debbi
