Don,

I sure will.

I was thinking that we might be able to talk to our Dr offices and see if

they will let us leave a passout or something to let people know about

this site. It would also let them know the people will love to visit them

after. There will be some organization issues with it and that will all

be helpful. Any suggestions. Since we are from many different hospitals

and towns I think it would not be too hard to set up some kind of network

so noone has to do alot of visiting and as many of us can participate as

wish to. We can maybe even have some kind of passout we can give with our

suggestions from the post op point of view. Like the soap on a rope and

lots of other things that have come up this week.

I think this will be so great for people. I am really looking forward to

it.

We could play residents and students and all stand around her.

I am sure she would appreciate that. How about 5-6 a.m. all

meeting there. Sally

Beth,

I think that both of these ideas are great ones: 1) Visits from post-

ops so the newbies have someone to ask questions and someone who can

share their " lessons learned " stories and 2) Lists of what to bring

to the hospital and what to have on hand when you return home. I'd be

happy to help in any way possible. I am having my surgery at NEMC

which I know is a pain for people to get to but of course if anyone

could visit I'd be ecstatic. I work in Waltham though and can easily

visit someone on my lunch hour at NWH after I've had my surgery in

March. Let me know of what assistance I can be.

Beth,

I have my first appointment with Dr. Reines on Thursday,

Feb. 22...I am meeting the rest of his team on Wed, Feb 21. I was

supposed to meet them all 3 together but Dr. Reines is not going to be

there on the 21st so I am going back the next day to see him. I had

to get it all that week, because I am a teacher's assistant and we have

Winter Vacation that week. :)

I would be happy to do my share of visiting, but only after the winter is over because it takes me about 45 minutes from work. They would have to evening (or weekend) visits. Probably one thing to do would be to have anyone who wants a visit sign up for it. It could probably be coordinated through the surgeon's office (maybe a little form to fill out in the office). That way, if someone doesn't want a visit, we won't bother anyone. What do you think?

Thanks Joni, you had me chuckle, picturing myself on the bed, not caring who,

what or why and seeing a group of woman (most who I haven't met) staring down

at me. What a vision :) I should find out around the 15th if my insurance

will pay for this! I leave the 16th. Sue at Dr. Thayers doesn't think I

should have a problem. My fingers are crossed!

have me so excited and I can just imagine the laughter in my hospital room.

I have imaginary pain now where my stitches will be just imagining. I would

I'll even pack straws for everyone... I'll even try to arrange enough chairs

Lois,

Thats great. I can do weekday visits easier. Sally at Dr T and R office

is going to get back to me about how we can do this. Dr R said he has

wanted to have something like this but they never wereable to implement

it.

I will let everyone know what Sally says.

Does anyone know what hospital Diane is going to have her surgery in this

Monday. I think she told me it was Burlington. But Burlington Where and

what is the name of the hospital.

My husband counted my staples...there were 41 I think....I felt like I had a zipper down my front.

I wasn't shy...I showed them to my mother, my sister.....LOL

As far as visiters went...I didn't mind being alone in the hospital. My husband works nights (11 pm - 7am) and I have an 11 year old son, so he had to come home and go right to bed so he could be awake in the evening for my son.

They did come to visit me in the evenings, but the pain meds had me pretty spaced out. I think the time in the hospital went really fast.

Question...I am new here...what does "DH" mean??
