He is treating me like a precious jewel - totally loving, attentive, sweet,

kind, generous,

taking me out, listening to me, making love selflessly, etc

Wish I knew how this came about - I would like all you girls out there to get a

piece of

this!

Perhaps it came about because you refused to accept to be treated like

anything but a precious jewel? Or...maybe he wants something from you and he

now knows he has to try harder? You decide :)

I had the pleasure of meeting with Lee Kitchen's on several encounters.

Each of those encounters, Lee was an instant role model to LPA. He always was

kind and tried to get to know you. When I became the Liberty Chapter

President, I had to email Lee on several instances since I needed labels.

When I had met lee after I became the chapter president, he was so glad

that the younger generation of LPA was getting involved. So for those who got

the pleasure to know Lee Kitchen its a great loss. To LPA who will feel this

loss. And to those who never got the chance to know Lee Kitchens. I am truly

sorry for your loss. For our loss as an organization. As a person I am sorry

to loss a person that I got to know. So to your family and friends we will

miss you LEE.

Sincerely,

Bazhena Chernyavskaya

Liberty Chapter President

home from first programing full of " WHAT WAS THAT? " as I drive along. I can see

her point.

My day for that day is pretty much planned..... after the hookup, heading to

Thanks so much! I think I AM going to go with the spinal and I want to be sound asleep--don't want to hear nuthin'..... But I think you're right--it's the best way to go.

I spent this past weekend with an old boyfriend (believe it or not) and we had just a BLAST. We went out to dinner and dancing last night. It was the BEST sendoff! He just left to return to Long Island. I'm going to rest up this afternoon--drink some beers and have chinese food for dinner (the last supper, as it were).

I don't have to be at the hospital until 12:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. They bumped my surgery up to 2:00 p.m.

Thank everyone on this list for being there for me. For your information, shared experience and well wishes. I will be in touch with you all as soon as I am able to get back online.

God Bless you all!!!

Lee,

My classes start on Wednesday. I've decided to only take two courses this

semester (Criminal Justice and Hebrew Studies) so I can get used to the

classroom environment with my CI. I will be using Braille captioning or a

tactile interpreter in addition to my Comtek FM system. I can't wait! It

should be an exciting semester!

I know you use CART in school but to clarify my question, I mean; what will you

use for the presentation you give to the deaf students? Are all of them verbal

and comfortable reading CART or are some fluent/comfortable only in ASL? You

will probably have to make sure the school provides accommodation for them to

hear/understand your presentation.

I've found that some Deaf culture folks don't seem to like CART very well. It's

a different language gramatically etc than they are used to.

OH OH OH,, I can sign for myself and use it well. This will be my method of

communication next week. I am sure some in-house interpreters will be

there, so new students can meet them.

::PERK UP:: legal class!

I will be taking Legal Research/Writing, Property Laws, and hear this one,,,

(first time offered in years)................ CIVIL RIGHTS! When I heard

that Civil Rights is being offered, I must have been the first one to register!

This course fulfil the global diversity requirement and each quarter, the

legal dept have different topic for LEGAL 160. For example, summer it was

Sport Laws.. of course I wonder,, what does sport has to do with diversity

other than color, duh,,there is,,, I never thought of that golfer who won his

right to use carts at PGA tour, and more.

I haven't taken Criminal Justice yet. In fact, I don't think I will because

I have no interest in criminal law, but I heard from my classmates that the

course is very interesting.

I know you will do great with whatever it will be provided to you and good

luck with your studies. I know I will do great,, in fact, I know that two of

my professors next quarter will be thrilled because I had them Winter quarter

and did poorly at the time, they both knew that I was fighting to get CART.

I don't know, without CART, there would be no CC for TV. I heard that many

deaf like CART. In order to succeed in school, students should be able to

read well to understand text book.

actually, of the 3 classes,, Legal Research/writing is a repeat,, but

another professor is teaching it,, this time, it is online class. Property

Law's

professor taught legal research last winter and I think he passed me so that I

could be " spared " but I insisted on retaking Legal Research.,,, Civil

Rights taught Civil Procedure last winter and I dropped out of that class. I

know both professors will be happy to see CART this time!

Lee,

That Civil Rights course sounds interesting! I would also have been one of

the first in line to register. <smile>

For my Criminal Justice course, I had two options: Correctional Process or

White Collar Crimes. Both of them sounded intriguing to me, so I had a

difficult time deciding between the two. <grin> A new professor on staff is

teaching the course, but we have already been in communication with each

other by e-mail. I explained that I was blind, had a CI and would be using

Braille captioning with my FM system. He had no problem with this and

offered to provide whatever accommodations are necessary for me to fulfill

class requirements.

I'm really glad you have the opportunity to take those courses again after

not being provided with CART! I'm sure both of your professors realize the

position you were in being unable to use CART -- and they appreciate the

hard work and dedication you've shown in being able to advocate for your

rights! Way to go, Lee! <smile>
