Welcome and glad to have you join us here. Your concerns are right in the

'normal' range - almost everyone feels that way in the beginning. I think you

will find that the IE journey is marvelous adventure where you find freedom in

eating as well as a return to trust in yourself too. Keep posting as we all

share and benefit from each success and whine too. Looking forward to hearing

from you as you journey on.

BEST to you, Katcha

IEing since March 2007

trying pretty much every diet and scheme under the sun to lose weight. I am

totally sick of the rollercoaster and the mean things I've been saying to myself

all these years about food and my body. I'm now a Mom to a 6 year-old girl who

has the same tendency that I do (we're efficient weight-storers :)) and I'll be

dam*** if I'm going to set the example of dysfunctional body image and eating

that my folks set for me and that I've been living since I was 14. I am working

with an IE coach, which is great, and I am really needing a community of others

who " get it " , since so many people do not. I am thrilled to have found this

group, so thank you in advance for being here!

the last diet (extreme low carb) and started IE, I have gained weight (big

shock, I know). Anyway, although I know this is to be expected, the voice

inside of me is terrified that with IE I will just become HUGE and I'm feeling a

little paniced. I know in my head that this will be okay and that it's the

right path, and I'm not even beating myself up for the fact that my belly is

bigger (a HUGE step for me), but what can you guys tell me about your journey in

this regard? What advice can you offer to help me deal with this transition and

keep the faith? Thanks!

Hi ,Welcome. I'm glad that you have found the group and discovered IE. I can understand your concerns about ending up huge with this way of eating. All I can say is that if done properly, I have seen it work. If it doesn't work, then you might look at whether you are doing it properly.I started IE last April and dropped between 15 and 20 lbs by August. Then in August, one of my cats got sick and we got a crazy kitten and things got thrown off so much that I slipped away from following the principles and put most of the weight back on again. I'm not back on track, thanks to this group and have been doing very well with my eating.I think it's perfectly normal in the beginning to gain some weight when starting this type of eating. We start allowing so many foods that had been

forbidden for so long and we might overeat them for a while. But I can say that knowing I can have a certain food any time I want has helped me so much to not overeat it. I have to keep in mind that I can have it any time. Good luck on your new journey. I wish you much success. With this group and an IE coach, I would think you will do very well.SharonSubject: New Member: Glad to be here! To: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Thursday, April 2, 2009, 8:01 AM
