Guest guest
Well I totally agree with you Georgia, but you forgot to add BBQ in the mix! ) Here in Texas, you have about 3 BBQ joints and 5 Mexican food places in every town. And of course, there is the Dairy Queen! Love those hamburgers. Have a couple of Tim-Tams for me, will ya?? Donna H.
Guest guest
Yes Georgia' I believe the same thing - BUT - I eat to much of the BAD stuff. who is looking for that magic weight-loss pill and NF2 pill .... diet It seems like everyone has some sort of diet theory, from Crew members to movie stars to the Dalai Lama. This is what I think about diets, or eating plans or whatever you want to call them. Years ago we were encouraged to eat red meat because it was good for you, then we had to cut down because it was bad. Then butter was good for you and margarine bad, then vice-versa. Nuts, olive oil, carbohydrates, protein, dairy food, avocado, Tim-Tams, - everything has been good or bad at different times. What I think is, eat a bit of everything and don't worry about it. If dairy food sends your stomach into spasms, avoid dairy. If green peas give you the runs, avoid green peas. If chocolate gives you a headache (tragic but it has been known to happen to some poor, sorrowing souls) don't eat chocolate. Eat enough fruit and vegetables to keep you well up in vitamins, a bit of red and white meat, bread and carbohydrates to fill you up, and whatever else you need to satisfy yourself. A bit of everything and not too much of everything. There is an old saying - a little of what you fancy does you good. I have never been on a "diet" in my life and never will. I'm sure I've offended somebody with this, but it's only my opinion here. Georgia, on the soapbox once again.
Guest guest
oh im so sorry . My brothers son is allergic to peanuts:( and its a true bitch:( Seems like nearly everything has peanut oil in it and that makes it very hard. Allergies are scary. Has your Dr given you an epipin?? You should ask because for allergies that are severe its good to keep on hand. It is an individual vaccine of epinephrine?? Im not spelling that right:( If something slips by and he starts getting swelling and breathing probs this will slow reaction down while you get him to an emergency room. I once heard of a woman who had a reaction licking a postage stamp:( Evidently they use corn syrup in the glue and she had a sensitivity to corn:( Goods luck~~Lowi Diet My eight year old has NF2 so no dairy, gluten, sugar, etc., etc., etc........ (Don't want any more tumors). My two year old has a peanut allergy so no peanuts, peanut butter or anything containing said ingredients allowed in the household which is almost everything. (Don't want him to go into anaphylactic shock and have to go to the emergency room). So, henceforth, from here on out we will no longer be eating or drinking. :-) (sitting here with a migraine and ready with the Epipen)

Guest guest
Thanks, Lowi. Peanut allergy is a very scary allergy. People with the allergy die every year after accidental ingestion. With each subsequent exposure the reaction can be worse. So last time after my two year old was exposed to peanuts he got sick, vomited all over, broke out into a rash, and was crying for his daddy. Next time he may not be able to breathe. We've got two Epipen's now and will take him to the emergency room next time. Hopefully there won't be a next time. Right now we are trying to get him in a Mother's Day Out program and we have to find a program that is peanut free or has good restrictions. I'm worried sick about my baby. Now I have to learn all about NF2 and peanut allergy, too. Not to mention my migraines. Life is fun. :-) Welcome all new crew members, too. Glad you found us. Hope you find all the answers and support you need. oh im so sorry . My brothers son is allergic to peanuts:( and its a true bitch:( Seems like nearly everything has peanut oil in it and that makes it very hard. Allergies are scary. Has your Dr given you an epipin?? Guest guest
not really sure Barbara but had to get Mike soy Milk when he was a baby he just couldn't keep regulate milk down my grand son was the same ??? Lois Diet I must have missed why milk should be avoided - by people in general or by those with tumors? Is it that the milk itself can have hormones it that we don't need? Could someone clue me in? Barbara B , I don't mean I'm dismissing what you say, I've changed my eating alotlistening to your advice. I just meant, I liked the sound of it, theoccasional no-no. Sure finding out quickly how they effect how we feel andhow much more energy we have. At Oz we were more lenient, but red meat, white bread, sugar......are replaced at our house with veggies and somefruit. We're trying and slowly switching, in fact we have quite a bitalready :-). I've even practically cut out the chocolate, pop is on its wayout, although caffeine free and 1 calorie. Milk, we drink alot less and alotmore water. I had a teacher from Africa that said in class one day ' humansare the only mammal that doesn't wean itself from milk as it matures,' isthat true? Also, I heard a program on TV about cancer, MS....otherillnesses, and he also mentioned milk and hormones that they are fed, scary. We love it, 1%.I wonder if a small farmer could supply us, instead of store milk suppliedby big dairies. Would it make a difference, granddpa never fed his fewcattle hormones. Never saw milk at Walmart up here. Maybe the new mall storewill carry it.Sheryn

Guest guest
Carol, I guess you figured out gluten is " a gray, sticky, nutritious mixture of proteins found in wheat, etc. " Thank you Webster's New World Dictionary. I was just kidding about Nick's diet. I don't have him on a special diet. I kind of feel like (ine was it?), who said everything in moderation. Except for peanuts. No peanuts around this house. My two year old is allergic. Of course, if say carrots became " the " cure for NF2 I'd be feeding them to him all day long until he turned orange. :-) > This is going to sound stupid after I posted about the gluten free diet, but what is gluten anyway??? > Carol > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Norwood > My eight year old has NF2 so no dairy, gluten, sugar, etc., etc., etc........ Guest guest
one problem with gluten i've read is it gets sticky in small intentines and makes you very constipated. some people are highly allergic too. Guess what? I've been juicing carrots for a year now, drink a big glass most every day :-) not orange yet! its good for liver and other, immune system, but it is high a certain type of natural sugar but it doesnt bother me, not sure why.
