Guest guest
OMG Dr Fisher is fabulous!!!! You should not change doctors !!!! He is absolutely the best...yes he expects you to follow the program but he has been nothing but supportive of me and my efforts. Alot of people who left this group did had issues with him for some reason but I had totally the opposite!! He is wonderful...dont let them scare you...check it out yourself. Guest guest
Gordy, what is “slime”? - Lesa - Re: Dr. Fisher Tina.... Basically she talked about keeping food down and " slime " . She is 5 months out. all side effects that can and do occur. remember....everyone is different. As says " mileage may vary " These types of things don't happen to everbody and if and when they do, they usually resolve themselves over time. Guest guest
Lesa.... People call it " slime " but I guess you would relate it to mucous. I understand it's a common problem. Having not been there I cannot say for sure but I'm sure some of the post-op folks can describe it better. Regards, Gordy -45# > > > > > > > > Hi All.... > > > > I'm new to this group. Guest guest
Maggie: I just read your post, and I had to put in my 2 cents. You should consider yourself lucky to have been assigned to the chief surgeon of Kaiser Richmond Surgery Dept (not only bariatric surgery, but ALL surgery). Dr. Fisher has a great deal of experience in RNY gastic bypass surgery. Take a look at his qualifications on Kaiser's website. They are impressive. I have a tiny scar (I had open), and I was totally satisfied with his care. There was one time during my exam when he and I were talking about my future. I started to cry with hope that I could reach goal. He went out of his way to find me a box of tissues, and then offered reassuring words to help me believe that goal was in my reach. The thing that comes to mind here is the few others who I have encountered who have problems with Dr. Fisher. You know, Dr. Fisher was incredibly kind and sensitive with me. I think you will get from him what you bring to your encounters. If you're angry and bitter, how would you expect ANY human being to react to that? If you're open and willing to accept his help and ask questions of him, you will find that you will get much more from the experience. He and I had long discussions about emotional issues (my issues), and he gave me WONDERFUL, heartfelt advice. He's not only an excellent surgeon, he is a wonderful man. I met two women at a support group who had problems with Dr. Fisher (this was over a year ago). But they had problems with EVERYTHING. NOTHING satisfied them. They were BITTER and CATTY about everything in the program. And why weren't the losing weight? They were NOT following the program... AT ALL. They lambasted Dr. Fisher because he had the " nerve " to tell them that they needed to follow the guidelines in order to lose weight. What a concept. They had the petty gall to even criticize him because he is an attractive, slender man. That type of criticism is just as unfair as judging someone because they are fat. I stopped going to those support groups because of those women. I couldn't take the nasty, bittness against everything, when I was struggling to keep my head high in my first few months post-op. Thank God I found this group. It saved me and helped me throught the rough spots. So, in my humble opinion, you just won the lottery in getting assigned to Dr. Fisher. That man gave me the most precious gift of my life: a tool to get my life back. The rest was up to me. But I will be eternally grateful to him. Guest guest
Hi Maggie, I don't have any experience with Dr. Fisher . . . but I do want to welcome you to this wonderful group. The folks here are an amazing source of support and information. Good luck on losing those last 12 pounds by your surgery consultation. I look forward to getting to know you. Guest guest
I have to agree also. When I received my card in the mail for surgeon consult I initially had Dr. Baggs. But then I asked to be called if there were cancellations and I got Dr. Fisher. When I seen him, I'd met him during orientation and I liked him, he was as excited as I was. He was very encouraging. He was impressed with my hard work to reach 10% goal and said he'd send the paperwork in for my pre-surgery class. Two days later I got a call offering me a surgery date. I will have my surgery 12/14/04. So he moved very fast getting my paperwork in and he was very nice. Von > > > > Hi All.... > > I'm new to this group.
