Hi Ken,

The theory is that you need to decrease your imflamation so AP can work. So

you should take something. BUT some (I should say most) NSAIDS can cause

swelling or fluid retention. I went thru quite a few before I found one that

did not do it to me. Amazingly it was taken off the market about 2 years

after I stopped taking it because it was causing deaths. So you need to

observe yourself for one that is good for you.

There are a lot of natural antinflams that you could use. Curcumin is one of

them (otc) and bromelin (OTC). They are listed on the rheumatic site and I

am sure others will post to you with their suggestions.

hope this helps.

rheumatic Minocin and NSAIDs (24.06.06)

Hi All

I have been on Minocin since nov 2005 and feel much better. There is a

little swelling around my left ankle.

I had my last depo-medrone shot on 14 Feb 2006 and gave up taking the

NSAID Anthrotex.

My question is should I resume taking this NSAID as I've heard that it

complements the Minocin or should I still refrain?

Please could anyone answer this question.

Thanks

Ken.

Just a note of caution--Bromelain causes Minocin to be excreted more quickly

from the body.

Hi Ken,

NSAIDS are always a poor compromise due to the side effects. As far

as pain control is concerned my

wife did best with boswellia sold by NOW as Boswellin. It has

absolutely no side effects and controls

pain very nicely. You must give it about 3- 4 weeks to become effective.

Hope it works for you.

Good Luck,

Hey, !

Sally in L. Rk here.

Man, am I glad I read your comment on Bromelain!! Just started taking it not

long ago and am having trouble with flaring and you note that it causes mino to

be excreted from the body faster-maybe I'll try getting off of it and see if the

mino will work better!!

Thanks much and hope you've found an NSAID that gives you some relief!!

Hey, Ken!

Sally in L. Rk here.

If you do NOT need an NSAID, do NOT take it-Lucky you!! All NSAIDS are hard on

your tummy, liver, etc. so keep off any meds you don't need, in my opinion.

I'm envious-I'm on prednisone, mino, Celebrex, f.oil, Tagamet, etc., etc.
