Guest guest
It's hard to tell. There are times I thought something was wrong and it was nothing. And then there are the times that I thought it was nothing (I thought the doctor would laugh me out of the office for wasting his time) and my son ended up in the hospital. I would check it out -- if for no other reason than your peace of mind. Sue Ann Breana is sick(help) hi everyone, i dont get to post much but i still read all the post.anyways i need some advice on my daughter breana...she has had a cold for 2 weeks now. at first it was just a runny nose, but now she has a cough that sounds pretty rough,it sounds wet..thats the only way i know how to describe it. she's not running a fever but it is slightly elevated from her norm(97.5)today it was 99.3. she is really irritable, shes been crying almost nonstop for 3 days now..i am a single parent with 2 other children so i am about to lose my mind about now.....shes taking her feeds ok, only some mild vomiting which she does anyways...we live 3 hours from her dr. so i dont want to take her in if i dont have to.do you think this could cause her to have a metabolic crisis? she has only done that twice and it has been a year. any suggestions???thanksmonica(mom to ashle,5 healthy,......brook3 Adhd and breana diagnosed with unknown mitoPlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Guest guest
i want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. i took her to the emergency room last night, the on call dr. said she had aspiration pneunomia, he sent her home with lots of antibiotics. we are going to see her dr. today and im not sure what he will do. she takes everything by mouth, so im sure he will order another swallow study. she used to aspirate her thin liquids but that was 2 years ago. we repeated the test last year and her swallow was delayed but she was not at risk for aspiration. i guess we will just have to wait and see..my husband is in the military and lives 900 miles from me, so he is trying to get home for a few days(keep him in your prayers)i will try to keep everyone posted. monica In a message dated 11/20/2002 12:15:19 PM Eastern Standard Time, > mdcaywood@y... writes: > > > at first it was just a runny nose, but now > > she has a cough that sounds pretty rough,it sounds wet > > Hi , > > This is exactly how Mamie Rose presents when she has pneumonia. Guest guest
>no her pediatrician is 3 hours away. I live in a small town in tennessee. and the doctors here are so incometent that i refuse to let them see her. so I drive her to memphiswhen it is not an emergency. there is an emergency room about 30 min from me that is familiar with her and will treat emergencies but only with the help of her doctor on the phone. its really hard being thet far away from her doctor but its the only way right now.. monica I am so sorry Breana is sick. Guest guest
Hi : You may first want to call and talk to your doctor or nurse. Being three hours away that can be hard on you. But there are colds that are going around that seem to last a long time. I have a healthy older boy who had a cough for 2 1/2 weeks. Not wet sounding though. Started as croup and just eased up. More at night he would cough. But if it is a wet sound you may want to get it checked out. Could be broncititis. And you don't always have to have a fever with some issues. I know for our sinus infections we don't always get the pain and pressure, but it's just a gut instinct as a parent that you know what is wrong with your child and they need to be seen. Good luck and let us know how things go.
