Guest guest
Rose-Marie, My son drinks Clear American which can be purchased at Walmart. They have many different fruit flavors and they actually taste very good for a caffeine free, calorie free, sodium free soda. The ingredients is Carbonated Water, natural flavors, citric acid, aspartame, potassium citrate potassium benzoate(A preservative); Phenylketonurics: contains phenylalianine. Prior to the diet my son would drink water but he no longer likes to and we were having trouble getting fluids into him. He just turned 4 so I just use a little soda in a cup and then fill the rest with water and he is fine with that. He also loves popsicles made with this. He has been on the diet a year as of January and at the beginning I was doing Kool-aid popsicles but I also got quite tired of looking at his stained cheeks and chin. I know that some kids do not do good with aspartame but luckily for us this has not been a problem. Janice - Mom to (seizure types myoclonic, atonic and tonic clonic - Now seizure free over a year and totally med free!) Yeah to the diet!! Guest guest
I don't know anything about the fruit drink but Splenda has a soda called Diet Rite that tastes good. Jackie
Guest guest
Fruit 20 is made w/ sucralose. We use Glaceau, flavored fruit water. Tastes like very watered down fruity water, but better than plain water I guess. We can get it at Bread & Circus, or Whole Foods. Barvb Swoyer Non-NutraSweet drinks? > What might people suggest for drinks that are free from NutraSweet AND heavy-duty dyes? isn't much of a water drinker , unfortunately. As far as she's concerned, it only exists to rinse and spit after brushing her teeth. We were doing well with flattened seltzer, but now we are trying to steer clear of NutraSweet. We're sleuthing a possible pattern of tough days following large amounts of seltzer and diet Jello. Bummer, as she loves her Jello/cream/fruit snacks. She can handle any of the Kool-Aid sugar free flavors without trouble, but during drooly allergy periods it would be nice to avoid the bright dyes that stain her chin. > > We're willing to give Splenda-sweetened sodas a try. Guest guest
Jake used to drink that too (but we eliminated aspartame). It was the one drink that he liked. It's very strong, so I too used to water it down....to basically a drink of water w/ a splash of Clear American. Guest guest
Rose-Marie, Katera won't drink plain water either. I use Koolaid's lemonade flavor....... mainly because of the staining issue. Katera tends to be quite messy with her drinks..... shakes and spills her sippy-straw cup all over the place..... so I avoid the red dyes (not good for the brain anyway according to my naturopath) and the dark green lime. The lemonade has almost no color. I sweeten only with stevia. You can either make up a whole half gallon at a time..... or make it one drink at a time with just a sprinkle of Koolaid powder and a tidge of stevia powder. My fave is NuNaturals pure extract stevia powder. Patti Non-NutraSweet drinks?
