Guest guest
Hi , Sounds like a great idea! Count me in! Shall we report back in a week and see how we feel? I'd be more interested in others' emotional responses to trying this, rather than measuring weight loss... i dont weigh myself. but maybe someday i will. but maybe not, too. only if i very strongly feel that it wont affect me emotionally. By the by, i DO believe that if we eat whatever we want, when we are hungry, we WILL get to our ideal weight. i definitely feel like i have lost weight, albeit very gradually. but i think that's the way it's " supposed " to work. i think losing something like 2 pounds a week is too drastic... you have to shock your body into that, and why would you want to shock your poor innocent body??? that sounds like a diet! sorry for the tangential ramble! thanks for suggesting this. sounds fun and empowering to me, even if no weight loss happens! abby Okay, so I've been reading this book called the " Attraction Distraction. " I don't know if any of you have heard or read about the Law of Attraction, but basically, it's the idea that we are what we think about. We bring into our lifes that which we focus on most fervently. So if you concentrate on money and your lack of it, then you will continue to be short of cash. However, if you begin to concentrate on making money or receiving money in the mail as opposed to bills, then your money situation will start to improve. I know it's a strange thought, but if you think about it, it works. So if we apply this " Law of Attraction " to weight loss, how many of us have stared in the mirror thinking to ourselves, " oh my gosh, I look so fat " or " I've gained weight " and then started to panic? All these intensely-negative bodily feelings about weight do is to attract MORE FAT. Doesn't that make sense? So I guess I have a challenge for everyone (myself included). For the next week (and more, if you get positive results), focus on feeling good about your body. As soon as a negative emotion enters your mind, counter it with something positive. Get REALLY excited that you will soon be at your ideal body weight. Muster up as much positive emotion you can and see where it takes you. Sometimes I think the problem with IE is that most of us don't believe we can eat whatever we want and still lose the weight. Hence, we gain weight or stay the same because that's what we believe should and will occur. So try it! What could it hurt? Let's all get really happy and excited about the prospect of getting to our goal weight and having the body we've always wanted. See what it does for you.And if you have the chance or the desire (or even some curiosity), I highly recommend you look into the Law of Attraction and perhaps read one of the books. Joe Vitale is excellent, and the book I am reading now by is really great so far as well.Happy eating, everyone!-
Guest guest
I think there is great gain when you can appreciate your body, as it is. It is a way of bringing your self to the moment, and practicing gratitude. How many of us used to be a size of two smaller and can still remember all the things we hated about our body? Now, years later, perhaps we are in a larger size, and we still feel frustration.... I bought tank tops for the first time in years. I don't think my arms are my best feature, but I was tired of hiding them, especially when it's so hot, and I like a little sun on my arms. So I am going to Mexico next week, and I will be wearing lots of sleeveless tops. I actually look very attractive in them. I am trying to allow my eyes to focus on the big beautiful picture of me, instead of zooming in on aspects that once disgusted me! Focus on the beauty and you will find beauty! Guest guest
I would love to hear back from you in a week! I will report back as well and we can all discuss how we feel. I'm interested in everyone's conclusions as well. I definitely don't think weighing yourself is a good idea. I don't do it anymore because if I do, I go crazy and it affects my mood. But what you can do is see how you feel in your clothes and in your own skin. Are you more confident, more content with your body image, making healthier decisions about food because you want to feel good? I just really believe that positive thinking gets us to where we want to be in life, and I think that the negative feelings I've had about my body are what caused me to gain weight in the first place. Everytime I get excited about losing weight, I feel myself shrinking...until I sabotage myself in some way by losing the motivation or by slipping back into the negative feelings. Another exercise I suggest (for myself too) is to come up with a " goal from the soul " as to why you (and I) want to lose weight. In the book I am reading she explains that goals like " I want to look like that supermodel " or " I want so-and-so to ask me out " are not going to keep you motivated to stay thin for long. As soon as you get there and your life doesn't change, you will immediately put back on the pounds. So we need a solid purpose as to why we want to lose weight. There's more to it than that, but that's the gyst. So my purpose for losing weight is to become a thin (yet curvy and fit) and radiant woman who other women can look to as a model for health, beauty, and success. I love makeup and fashion so I had to slip the beauty thing in there. Hope it doesn't sound too shallow Happy eating! - > > > Okay, so I've been reading this book called the " Attraction > > Distraction. Guest guest
I'm in too - it actually fits in kind of perfectly with some thoughts I've been having lately. Over Winter break I was having really positive thoughts, and now that I'm back at school I haven't been as much, and its definitely been affecting my feelings (and success). As for goals from the soul - would comfortable with who I am count, or do I need to be more specific? :)On Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 10:02 PM, Intuitive.Eater. In.Training wrote: I'll try it!! Guest guest
Excellent suggestion . I will see if I can get myself to pay attention and be aware so that I can give this a go. Some days I swear I need a hat with a little stick tied to the top so that I can dangle notes right in front of my eyes so that I can't/won't miss them!! Positive thoughts for positive results - why NOT?!? :) Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Okay, so I've been reading this book called the " Attraction > Distraction.
